On 25 October 2007, Singapore Airlines will launch the A380 into commercial service and become the "First to Fly" the double-decker super jumbo.

A380 First Flight and Charity Auction

Singapore Airlines - the first airline in the world to fly the new Airbus A380 – is preparing for the first commercial flight of the new double-decker super jumbo, from Singapore to Sydney return on October 25 and 26, 2007. In an unprecedented move, all proceeds from the sale of tickets on the first flight will be donated to select charities, including The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick in Australia, The Community Chest of Singapore and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders). Due to overwhelming interest in the history-making flight, Singapore Airlines will auction the seats for the Singapore – Sydney, Sydney – Singapore routes separately on global online marketplace, eBay. Bids will be invited for seats from 27 August 2007.
