SQ Award Booking - cancellation query

Well, I have been able to do the thing I thought I'd never be able to do thanks to this forum, the ATO thread, and Westpac Black card thread - and that is obtain two J seats Rome to Adelaide for next year. Noice. I did have to purchase some points to finalise the booking, and tried to find out the cancellation risks of doing so - pretty nigh impossible. So I booked anyway.

I am thinking from a search here, if I do have to cancel then I will receive the original points back, but not the money I spent on purchasing those points, but those will be additional points refunded to my account as points instead of $? Is that about right? I expect there will also be a service fee of some sort.

Now, I have to fill in 16 hours stop over in Singapore. Having been to Singapore many times maybe the Hotel at the airport. Arrive at 6am and depart at midnight. Of course.

Yes Pushka if you cancel all pts used for redemption will be re-deposited back to your account. Cost to cancel confirmed rdpt is USD30. But hopefully you won't need to cancel but get to enjoy SQ J. Pts on Black at 2 x with 3mth promo?

To manage that awful wait in Singapore, we've booked a refundable room at the Airport Crowne Plaza. Unless work reasons drag MrP into Singapore proper, and that is a possibility, I plan on vegging out for the day with a last minute dash to the Lounge. I take it the SQ Business lounge is nice?

Might I suggest you pm cove and request further info on the 'big bath' antics that might be undertaken during your layover - seems he has quite an assortment and collection of 'hanky panky' antics!

Next question. On the 12 hour flight Rome to Sin, which departs at noon, (12pm is noon isn't it?) is it best to select the single seats by the window or the two middle seats. We will have to somehow sleep on that flight as it arrives at 6am and Adl connection is midnight.

Well personally if travelling as a couple IMHO it's a no-brainer - middle couple seats together does add significantly to journey.

No it's not about the hand holding but rather lots of other parts - just the sharing of the experience together - others hold different views though.

Have you checked set map? Does flt look full?

OK if it looks wide open and that does not change then you can easily move once on board.

Well Cruiser Elite I am in Sydney for 2 days work so no hp at all.
I will test Erkpod's train system to Western Sydney and that may use up more than a couple of hours of this brand new day.

If you cancel via the website are the points automatically redeposited into your account, and taxes refunded minus the $30? I might need to cancel a booking this week and re-book a wait list that has cleared, but want to know whether I need to cancel via the phone to get the points back.

Also, what's the double points promo with Westpac Black you're referring to Cruiser?

You can't cancel confirmed ticketed red pts online - you need to call KF. YES your pts will be re deposited and taxes refunded less US$30

Friends are heading for London with 3 young children to start work in October.
Cancelling a SQ flight is a phone call and they are very nice about it. Do not leave it to the last day as the refund fee will grow. Let them have the chance to re-sell the seat is good manners.

Thanks for reminders about cancellation policy - I called up asap to cancel, redeposit miles and book the J seat on the same cabin for only ~10k miles more. A winning deal! Singapore F1 GP this weekend is going to be excellent.
