First time on an A380 for me and I'm travelling Y on SQ upper deck.

Do we board with the lower deck Y pax and walk up the stairs inside the plane?

I'm *G, is there a special queue for *G passengers in Y upper deck at SIN or LHR?

Is there plenty of overhead bin space for carryon for the upper deck?

Thanks

Chucksta

My memory of a flight out of SYD is that there is a clearly marked separate line for upper deck. I don't recall any hassles with carryon space & I thought the extra I spent on an exit row seat was fantastic value for money.

Always a separate upper deck and lower deck queue regardless of class (I've flown SQ a380 Y from LHR and SIN)

You'll have plenty of room for carry on because there are less seats for Y upper deck (2-4-2 configuration last I travelled) and if you're in the window seat there's a window storage too. It's been a year since I've travelled sq a380 though so best to check seat guru on configurations and the like.

Not sure about *G queue though.

Took this flight almost 3yrs ago and we had a separate ramp to upper deck and had the two seats on the side. 2 roller bags, one handbag and a laptop bag with no issues and the side has extra storage space.

My only complaint is we were too forward and close to the toilets and there was a bad odor most of the flight.

I've found that carryon space is generally pretty abundant on SQ

Yep on medium to long hauls usually heaps of space. It seems to be tightest on short flights (akin to domestic flights) such as SIN-CGK/BKK.

SQ are pretty good with priority boarding in general.

They'll usually call F/J/PPS/*G members to board before calling for Y boarding.

Agreed - and since getting there, my Velocity Gold / Platinum status has always been recognised for priority boarding too (although not necessarily specifically mentioned when the announcements are made).

The upper-deck economy section on the SQ A380 is great, but I'd add the caveat that for the last 3 years or so when flying ADL-SIN-LHR, whenever we've booked onto a flight operated by an A380 with upper-deck Y, the plane has ALWAYS been changed to something else before we actually fly - either to the other version of the A380 without the upper-deck Y or to a 777. If you go for the upper deck and also like to book specific seats (particularly the exit row, given the limited number of them), I'd suggest checking regularly that the plane hasn't been changed as they're fairly sketchy about keep you informed. Alternatively, consider a seat on the lower deck to avoid the issue.

This one is a bit unfortunate I think.

My experience is a bit different as I've always had SQ call me in advance when there's such an equipment swap to tell me that my seat has been reassigned on lower deck, usually a day before the flight.

I think what probably helps on this though is that my contact details on my KF profile are always kept up to date. So they go down the pecking order of contact numbers I have on my file (rather funny scenario on this actually once, as they called my work number, which is absolutely on the bottom of that list and I picked up mistakenly thinking it was an SG client that I was expecting a call from and immediately put it through to conference mode with a few colleagues...) and generally ensure that I either get the call or at least leave a voicemail on my mobile.

Possibly - I only found out because I happened to log into my KrisFlyer account and noticed that my seat allocation (in the exit row) had gone blank. Luckily, there were still some exit row seats on the main deck. I never received an e-mail or phone call from them, although it's obviously possible that if they had only just made the change of planes and / or because I'd pro-actively kicked off the change of seating, they manually crossed me off the list.

Going to be in the exit row 71.

Is there overhead bins directly above, or do I have to use the bins further back? How far back?
