Hi am flying in SQ228 Melbourne - Singapore in a bit less than 2 weeks and just noticed
that since 9th August it has been operated by A330 not the A380 have they subbed this out early?

Am concerned as am booked in Suites on A380 and want to know if this has changed.
Booking details still say Suites and A380 but am very nervous!!!!!

Anyhelp?

Cheers

Hmmmm thats very odd indeed. SQ228 is SQ's biggest MEL flight of the day (as it connects with all the overnight European flights). It was supposed to downgrade from an A380 to a 77W (not an A330) when they moved the A380 onto Indian routes but I thought that wasnt happening until September?!

Anyone have anymore info? I saw an SQ A380 at MEL 2 weeks ago...

Maybe they've moved the A380 to NZ? I fear MEL is missing out now with the A330 hard product.. definitely a step down from the big birds.

I think there were someone one off flights to some places (IIRC KIX) using the A380 and the typically lower loads in August saw the A330 on 227/8 for a short period.

Hopefully they will in the near future at least put a 77W on with the new business and first product, that would at least help somewhat.

Maybe they will - maybe they won't given their sparsity. However might I suggest that any pax who flies J on 237 SIN-MEL should send feedback into SQ expressing disapproval of SQ usage of 773 with a Weber angle seats on an overnight flt - just not up to scratch IMHO - daytime flt they are ok - but not o/n.

No. 2x 77W, 1 x A330, 1 x 773. Plus some additional a330 providing a fifth service several days a week during some of Dec/Jan.

Nope she's a gonna. There was a post in another thread where some SQ big wig indicated maybe possibly again sometime in future - but who really knows.
Thanks for that.

Yes, call them up and ask

Also check with checkmytrip.com prior to check

I was in a similar situation, downgraded from Suite to A330 J - Oh the Horror!!!!!, called them up and after a lot of negotiation, was put onto a 777-300 F product
Suggest to call early before everyone in your situation calls up to change into 777-300 F

Good luck!

Was a good flight, can't remember much except having lobster with krug for breakfast.. FA's eyes lit up when i asked for some Krug to go with the lobster at 0400! gotta love SQ FAs (no you bad boy attitude...)

A bit sad to see the SQ A380s leaving MEL, hopefully they come back to regular service soon.

No. 2x 77W, 1 x A330, 1 x 773. Plus some additional a330 providing a fifth service several days a week during some of Dec/Jan.

At least there are none of the old 772s on MEL services. Have flown them a few times in Y from SIN-PEK and they still have the now ancient AVOD system that I remember when flying on SQ in 1996. They really aren't up to scratch.
