Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

I thought Kung Pao will have some red-coloured sauce/flavouring? did not expect it to be green/grey-ish in colour ...

Thank you @kermatu
Yep, quite disappointing. Given the core ingredients are rice and cauliflower you’d expect there to be much more in the way of accompaniments.

I think we are all of the understanding that you need to add your own heat to the Spice bar dishes, but they usually have some other flavour.

Of course others may think differently to my view, but I wouldn’t have again.

I just went there today. Pork Chow Mein I think it was called.

I am going to make a big call here and say this is probably my favourite domestic lounge in Aus.

I am far from the most regular traveller, but Always something decent to eat and a pleasant view. Not too crowded.

Today's selection. Went for the pork. Pork was lukewarm but the flavour was good. Standout was the salted chilli sauce, definitely need to see this more on the menu!

Couple of selections from the last week at the spice bar:

I had the Chow Mein:

All in all.... disappointing. The noodles were very crispy this is true. The pork though? it was lukewarm and just... no, didn't care for it. The dish did have a decent kick from the chilli it's true - not bland at all.. but really not what I would call chow mein.

I dropped by a couple of days later on my return, same menu in operation so I went for the Laksa:

This was absolutely delicious!!! Wonderful taste and while a simple mix of ingredients it really worked for me. It was at a nice temp and went down a treat.

Indeed some of it went down my shirt I enjoyed it so much. Yeah, that yellow stains!!!! (Luckily I had a replacement shirt with me, and all came out in the wash :D ) so yeah, just be careful when enjoying! :D

Indeed this is why I avoid broths and soups when travelling! My last visit week before last had the same menu as back in May. Reluctantly had the "Kung pao" cauliflower.

Was fresh and filling, but everything of colour (and therefore flavour) was my own addition. Unaltered, this has to be the most bland dish - ironic for a "Spice" bar. Thankfully the range of accompaniments remains solid.

Oh, I had the ordinary “crispy” dish on Tue. I thought about going back for the Laksa and was going to ask if he could toss some pork into it 😁.

The carrot and coconut soup wasn’t bad.

Looks like spelling is not important in the lounge, anymore.
Carry?
Shouldn't it be curry.

Obviously a typo, and not a regular occurrence on the Melb lounge menu from what I've seen. Not sure how you've drawn the conclusion that spelling is not important in the lounge from one isolated instance.

Also might I suggest that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
