Special Qantas investigation launched | The Australian

THE aviation watchdog has formed a special team to investigate Qantas amid growing public concern the airline's safety standards may have slipped.

The decision comes after the captain of a Qantas 767 flight made an emergency landing at Sydney Airport yesterday after discovering a hydraulic fluid leak.

It was the third Qantas plane in just over a week to make an emergency landing because of a mid-air fault.

Oh wow. An investigation kicked off for (what seems to me to be political reasons - probably caused by media pressure) to show people what the smart ones already know... Qantas is a safe airline!

As I commented elsewhere earlier. I really thing it is two emergency landings as an undercarriage door failing to close hardly qualifies as a an emergency.

Now if the door had jammed closed and failed to open then that would qualify.
