Southern India taste test - would that be hot, or extra hot?

How are you going about paying for things? Did you Exchange take Cash prior, using ATM? or have you managed to get the Contact-less payments working?
Combination of all of the above. Got 8000 before we came here, used an ATM at BLR before we flew to Kochi and used both 28degress ccard and phone contactless

Enjoying this, makes me realise that I wish I had taken more photos in the early eighties than I did. Oh to have had a digital camera back then..... :)

Some things don't seem to change, I'm sure the building above, before the bikes was exactly the same back then. I do have some photos, so when I get them back, it will be interesting to compare.

I'm guessing the Chinese fishing nets are still there.

A digital camera back in the day would have been amazing

Day 2: Kochi, 28.12

Here's what our itinerary has for us today
After refreshing and rest sightseeing Kochi - a town famous for its spices and seafood. Visiting the Dutch Palace, Jewish synagogue. Visit Fort district where we will visit the Church of St. Thomas - the place where Vasco da Gamma was buried. Then, walk in the port where you can admire the fishermen preparing the nets for fishing. Dinner at one of the charming seafood restaurants.
In the evening see a Kathakali show - southern art and make-up preparation.

and here's what we did

what Tripadvisor says about the hotel

and some more from around the hotel

The bed was just a tad hard, the aircon rattled and the road was busy (read noisy). Earplugs were my friend although bAlt was fine without so we both had great night's sleeps.

Another leisurely breakfast as Sunil wasn't picking us up until 10.

Beautiful outlook from the restaurant

bAlt had the Poori Bhaji and I had eggs masala. Both delicious.

First stop was the Mattancherry (Dutch) Palace. I can't remember what the cost for entry was. It wasn't included and it wasn't expensive.

Very interesting history. Great structure with beautiful ceilings throughout. Amazing murals and displays. Well worth the visit.

Then IMG_0518.JPGIMG_0520.JPGIMG_0521.JPGIMG_0524.JPGIMG_0525.JPGIMG_0527.JPG
IMG_0528.JPGIMG_0529.JPGIMG_0530.JPGIMG_0531.JPGIMG_0532.JPGIMG_0533.JPG

We walked from there around to Jew Town and through a very short short cut visited the historic synogogue. Tiles from China
