Hi all

I am flying back from London to Brisbane via Tokyo but have 9 hours on the ground at Narita airport during the day (11am to 8pm). I want to find somewhere to sleep during that time and have alrerady tried the 'day rooms' at Narita - but they are full.

Any advice? Do the hotels let you book a room for a day rather than a night?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks
Dave

There are day rooms available in the terminal for a charge. See here

Haven't used these so can't comment on what the facilities are like.

If you have OneWorld Emerald status, you could spend the time sampling the wonderful scotch selection at the excellent JAL FLounge.

I am with NM, but the hotels like Crowne Plaze that i stayed at a couple of days ago as i had an early flight out and wanted to be be close was nice, and only cost aorund $85 AUD. Free shuttle every 20-30 mins or so.

Does anyone know what the best hotel at the Narita airport area is - ie a 10 min shuttle ride is fine.

EG: Is the Holiday Inn any good?

There is a guest house near the airport but it seems to get poor reviews.

I have not stayed at the Holiday-inn but i have seen the website photos and the prices and the description of the rooms etc... The Crowne Plaza sounded much nicer and was really a nice hotel for the $85 or so i paid.

All the hotels have free shuttles i think, There is a Hilton there that may be of interest.

Hello all,

Just to tie up this thread, here is my experience at Narita.

Most of the nearby hotels offered 'Day rates' - the Hilton Narita was 10000JPY for one person and the room was available from 09:00 to 18:00

In the end the hassle of going through customs pushed me to go and plead at the Day Rooms at the Airport. Turns out that Terminal 1 has more Day Rooms than terminal 2 and that if you head along you're likely to get a room - all be it after a waiting period (I had to wait from 11am until 2pm) but was still well worth it and a very cheap sleep.

Being Priority Pass I then had a couple of hours int he Northwest Lounge (very nice - self pouring beer machine and 40 iMacs for internet access). But beware PP holders, there is no airside lounge at Terminal 2 so hang around in terminal 1 as long as possible - but remember that the last bus to terminal 2 leaves at 7.15pm - crazy!!
