Some B787-10's Grounded due to Issues

Following on from problems companies like Air New Zealand are having with the fan blades in their B787-900 RR engines, SQ has now found the same problems in two of their B787-10 aircraft. They have now been grounded. RR is certainly in for more pain. I think these blades in the B787-10 were said by RR to be an 'improved' version and not subject to the cracking problem.

Which rather shows the fallacy of regulators handing out multi hour ETOPS to new aircraft.
 
SQ group seems to have a lot of groundings lately, Scoot have had ongoing restrictions with the 787-900 aircraft, SilkAir’s 737MAX8s are of course grounded and now this. Looks like the workhorses (such as the older 777-200's) will be around for a while yet.
 
Wonder what was the reason QF/JQ took the GEnx over the RR for their 787-9?

I know that the GEnx is a lighter engine. But Im sure that would not be the only reason. Economics, operating specifications etc etc.

As they aren’t prescient, I’d expect that the only reason was price.
