For interested Accor Plus Members

Accor Plus members are invited to enter a raffle to win a stay for two at the brand new Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. The prize includes one night’s accommodation on Tuesday 3rd October 2017, an exclusive coughtail party and a full buffet breakfast the following morning.

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will open its doors to the public on Friday 6 October, so the raffle is a genuinely unique opportunity to experience the refined luxury of this outstanding hotel before the general public can. Sydney hasn't had a new-build international 5-star hotel since 1999, so the opening of the Sofitel Sydney DarlingHarbour in October is "a first in a millennium" and an eagerly awaited addition to the city.

Each raffle ticket costs $110. All money raised from the raffle will be donated to the Schwartz Foundation, which conducts pioneering research into how stem cell technology can improve the lives of those who suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS).

There are 15 prizes to be won and only 500 tickets are available for purchase.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the luxury of Sydney’s newest 5 star hotel, the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, on the very first night it operates.

Booked to stay in the second week after opening. .. hopefully enough time to iron out any wrinkles :)

For accor plus- suddenly this is no longer a participating property- cannot book free night?! Since when do sofitels not allow this- not happy about it!

The Pullman on Sydney Harbour is also not come back for a while. Basically, the most expensive properties in Sydney (Pullman on Harbour and now this Sofitel) will not let you use the certificates.

It is a question of maths/profitability. Rooms at both are 300-500$ a night ..more than the AC+ membership.

Try Pullman On Hyde Park or the Mgallery in the rocks for good value alternatives..

Just used mine to book Sofitel Auckland maybe a week ago for October. I wonder if it depends on prices at the time at places?

Yes ...it does ...also some properties are just okay with it and will allow the booking. As a general rule, the more expensive the rack rate the less likely it will return as being bookable. Also, sometimes they forget to allocate the space so you can have a low star hotel not bookable either even when you bring up the calendar and look many months out. They also close out this offer the closer you get to the Travel date. Lots of factors!

Makes sense. They're only doing it if it works in their favour! I know these perks aren't really designed for us.

Does anybody know the Executive Lounge requirements for this property -- I assume Platinum status will get you access?

I just booked a club room to try it out later in the year and it appears that you pay for drinks during the evening canapés service. Eek!!! Would have booked a standard room and saved the difference for the bar had I read the conditions properly.

Where do you find this detail ...can you post a link.

After initialIy searching to use my free night without success a few nights later I managed to use my free night on Saturday 7 Oct. I could see it when I searched, but I had a lot of trouble booking it. So I rang Accor waited about 30 mins to answer and then talked through the booking with an operator. He could see the free night available and so could I but everytime I tried to book, a glitch appeared. He then said he would book it for me but it would cost $20. I said that I shouldn't have to pay as it was available but their technology failed, I was put on hold while he discussed this with a superior, he then said that he would complete the booking for me. I thanked him very much and the booking details were confirmed in an email. This little session took over an hour to do but I am happy to experience the Sofitel in its first week of operation.

A couple of pics from the lounge.

Honor bar? At the prices shown in a few random searches I've done? Won't be staying here.

How does "Honor bar" translate into having to pay for your drinks? Usually, in these types of clubs, a honor bar just means that the drinks are set up on a bar and you serve yourself (rather than have a bar or waiter service).
