So who is watching the King’s Coronation or are you there

"like the queen mother".

Of course not the queen mother as she is no mother to any of the younger royal family. But maybe styled in a similar way:

I think the term Queen Mother was used because she had the same name as QEII. I don’t think it’s a traditional title, normally just Queen x.

Coronation concert shaping up well. Look out for the collaborative Romeo and Juliet piece.

Mrs Jase watched it all apparently but I was out for the night so didn’t see a minute of it. I do have rellies that let their house in Barnet out for a pretty penny and nicked off to their holiday house in Spain for a fortnight though 🤣

Irrespective of personal views, Albo had no choice. Did the job we pay him for.

Not a true republican, he wants to be PM more than he wants Australia to be a republic. He swore allegiance to Charlie (a republican would not do that), like most politicians no real backbone for his supposed beliefs.

FYI you can be a member of the Commonwealth without having Charlie as your head of state. Of the 56 members in the Commonwealth only 15 recognise the King/Queen of England as their head of state.

I meant to interject above - it's going nothing to do with Charles being head of the Commonwealth. Charles is King of Australia in his own right, and that makes us a Commonwealth Realm (old term was Dominion but was changed for obvious reasons).

All MPs, including republicans, swear an oath of allegiance to the sovereign every term (and on change of sovereign)- the wording is the same as what was used during the coronation.

This is not done by the wider commonwealth, and in the initial coronation script, only those in the UK and Commonwealth Realms were asked to take the oath.

Noting AFF's strict policy against political posts I make no comment as to its merit, just stating fact of the oath and our status as a Commonwealth Realm.

I did not watch the live broadcast and try to dodge reports on the news - but it's hard. I suggest people might like to watch The Windsors (which I am sure is a documentary 🤣).
That show is hilarious!!! Especially Bea/Eugenie
Im in UK atm ~ my cabbie does moonlight as an actor in Coronation St /does that count??

In Liverpool there are no Coronation references but Eurovision everywhere — as it should be!

Was in the UK a week ago, and aside from Union Jacks strung up along various streets (which isn't really that unusual), didn't notice all that much regarding coronation in London itself, but we did spend the weekend in the Cotswolds - and boy, how very English, lots of stores decorated with various paraphernalia to celebrate the upcoming coronation.

Watched bits and pieces of the ceremony on live stream, just out of fascination (and having been there so recently), and whilst I disagree that we should have a foreigner as our own head of state, nevertheless curiosity got the better of me.

If press is to believed neither William nor Harry like Camilla. If she outlives Charles expect see to a retirement announcement. She appears to be tolerated because of Charles rather than beloved by the public.
Why would they like her? I expect they have agreed to accept her role in their Fathers life but not relinquish their thoughts about Camilla and their mum. I'm a Diana fan.

She seems to have grown on the public. All my rellies and friends in the UK like Camilla because she tends to stay in her lane and does a hell of a lot of the “donkey” work. She is respected for not being in the news every day like some of the others

Yes he did. He could have sent someone else.
And he appeared to enjoy himself much more than Harry going by the smiles and his looking around to make sure people were looking at him.🤣

I don’t think it’s a traditional title,
Correct.
As I said maybe something along the lines of Queen "Mother" where Mother = X. So X = in Camilla's case may be Dowager, etc etc. they will just make it up like they did for the Queen Mother

But there's no reason to make it up. What's wrong with Queen Camilla?

The last Queen Consort to have a different name to the reigning Queen was Queen Mary - and she was known simply as HM Queen Mary. I can't see why it would be any different for Camilla.

The reason they had to "make it up" last time was to avoid the confusion of having two Queen Elizabeths.

Queen Camilla?
Because there can't be two Queens.
If Charles predeceases Camilla, there will be potentially Queen Camilla and Queen Catherine. They will make up something so that Camilla can still keep the Queen moniker but with an additional bit to indicate she is no longer Queen

I believe Queen Mary was also called Queen Mother when George V (her husband) died

That's

There absolutely can be and there has been many times (again - Queen Mary vs King George / Queen Elizabeth).

The difference between HM the Queen, and HM Queen x.
