Been flying a fair bit lately between PER and GET, and have been wondering why I have had a pretty poor track record for on-time running. 7 out of 8 flights so far have been over 15 minutes late, on a mix of both F50's and F100's.

Am I unlucky, is Skywest renown for being late or is it just one of the many joys of Geraldton?

Qantaslink weren't much better on their first outing either... among other problems, the bus driver delivered us to the 717 going to ZNE, loaded about 5 people before they discovered there was a problem, 30 minutes late overall.

In the scheme of things, one tech plane somewhere in outback WA can have a fair flow on effect with later services. 15 minutes I would imagine isn't seen as that much of a delay by the airlines. I think anything later than 15 affects their on time performance

I would suspect a more generic PER airport infrastructure prob here....Most flights into PER are advised to have at least 15 mins extra fuel loading on approach. which means delays are due to holding patterns in PER airspace. This was particularly common during CHOGM

Last trip was 1:45 late, last flight of the day GET-PER and the FA's said the F100's had a schedule that was simply too tight.

A colleague had a plane that went tech in GET on a Sunday afternoon, had to wait 4 hours to fly up another plane and complete the flight, and mobilise an engineer to fix the problem. Is there only one base for their aircraft engineers, that being Perth?

Wow, that is extreme for a <60 min flight! Pretty sure PER is the main base for all Skywest operations and they only have a few F100s in the fleet (less than 5 unless they have been on a shopping spree)
so I understand why the FA would be of that view

Of 4 flights booked on skywest KGI-PER three have been cancelled so count yourself lucky! Qantaslinks performance on the route is in steady decline with fly cancellations leading to next day departures a common occurrence.

Makes me wonder if it is it a case of RPT services to provincial hubs being cannibalised to allow presumably higher yielding Pilbara flights to continue operating?
