Got declined. Says I did not get the status through flying. Pretty sure others have got their status matched without flying. Not sure how they are determining who to approve and who to decline.

Yes, I meant to ask that also. I similarly have a few k from installing the app.

I was approved and didn't get it via flying. As I asked before, did you provide a screenshot of the website with a zero points balance.

Status match is a seperate company to Lufthansa and ITA and due to the EU regulations Lufthansa is not able to access any ITA data hence they have engaged this third party company to determine matches. Status match does appear to be rejecting those with a zero balance and also creating dummy bookings on the ITA website using the frequent flyer number to determine eligibility as they have no other way.

An interesting note on this aspect; I had a dummy booking appear which had been made against an older ITA account of mine which was not used by me in this status match process. I suspect that the more creative characters who are selling status through various channels up north were/are also attempting matches using random account numbers in the ITA format, and combining with doctored screen shots or images of digital cards to request a match.

So what's the procedure here to maximise the likelihood of approval for those that were SM'd via Velocity (ie not earned through flying)?

1. Create a LH account using an address from an eligible country (or update your address if you already have an LH account)
2. Change the Volare address to same
3. Apply via the link in this thread
4. Attach a pic of physical card OR (less desirably) a screenshot of card in Apple wallet (or similar) or from the ITA app
5. Cross fingers, clench buttocks.

I wonder if it’s as easy as adding in a few points and sending the status to status match. I’ve got the status but all points have expired.

Except for 2, yes - it's assumed due to privacy concerns they are not able to validate data within the ITA accounts, otherwise many more would likely not have been matched. LH M&M account address and the request form should be from a valid region. I used a physical ITA Executive status card for my image, but plenty say digital was fine. Seems you also shouldn't show detail of points balance (if nil); may or may not help. On item 5, yes, but don't strain anything... it could be a while.
