The move comes after SkyBus, owned by transport operator Kinetic, secured a five-year contract to provide airside and landside transport services across the airport precinct. That includes everything from terminal shuttles to essential airside transfers.
Already a well-known name in Melbourne and Hobart for its express airport-to-city services, SkyBus carries more than three million passengers each year.

Looks like its being introduced to support the proposed Sydney Airport expansion (inc. combining T2 and T3 into one megaterminal)

Could be popular as a shuttle between SYD and WSI or play some role as a backup transport alternative when Sydney Trains regularly melts down..

If they do that, would like to see shuttles extend further than just replicating the route to the CBD. Maybe express to Central Coast / Camden / Shoalhaven regions, terminating in activity centres that are car-dominated and away from the established public transport corridor

“SkyBus has earned a reputation for operational excellence at major airports...."
should be replaced with:
“SkyBus has earned a reputation for high prices at major airports"

Perhaps, but they are not on their Pat Malone in that regard….

Why do we need Skybus?

There is already a QF operated free airside shuttle from T3 to T1 (and vice versa) why would I want to pay for what has always been free.

I read it that they’re just getting the contract to run the existing landside transfer bus (T-bus) and seemingly a new generic airside transfer for non-QF customers. It’s not a paid service like MEL.

Not really newsworthy at all.
