Hi all

Last minute yesterday I got requested to be in Malaysia Monday & Tuesday - about 1/2 hours drive north out of JB, so I will transit from Singapore daily to my destination. A couple of questions...

1. Is it possible to use a JB cab from anywhere in Singapore or just the nominated pickup downtown somewhere, or

2. Can I commute by train (MRT) or Train/bus across the boarder?

I am looking for an easy solution and I don't want to drive myself.

Also, FWIW

MEL DOM J lounge from 930 -1030 today - Guest OK
SYD INT F Lounge from 1230 to 1430 today - Guest OK
SIN F Lounge 1700 (ish) Wednesday 27th - Guest OK

Tuesday night if anyone wants to catch up for drinks in SIN, I will be back by 1730ish - I'm staying CBD Singapore, was thinking about a downtown bar or restaurant

Additionally to the above - is there such a thing as a cheap fare SIN/Jakarta at the moment?

I cant do a same day return for less than ~$IN 900!

Looking at Wed early, back in SIN by 1700

There is a train up to JB actually i think it goes all the way to KUL, but it is not an MRT, its a seperate train and i assume its for passangers and not just freight, i have never investigated. Cant't answer the JB taxi question to monday when some of the guy at work who live in JB can tell me.

Tuesday night i would be maybe interested to catch up if your keen.

For Wed the only flights i would consider are SQ (Since LH is even flights only but at $199 SGD) @ $SGD 460 (SQ952 & SQ959) not muchtime there though, lands in CGK at 8:25, departs 14:15.

How about SilkAir? Or are you referring to them, by saying SQ? Our guys often used to do PER-SIN-CGK on SQ/Silk Air (if they couldn't get PER-CGK in QF J).

Hi all

There are JB cabs located near the lavender MRT station. They will take u across the border into malaysia.

2. Can I commute by train (MRT) or Train/bus across the boarder?
The closest MRT station to JB is woodland, there is a bus you can catch from the bus interchange. Otherwise, catch the 170 bus from Lavender bus interchange which is 10-15 walk from the Lavender MRT station. The 170 bus will take u directly into JB.
I am looking for an easy solution and I don't want to drive myself.

The best option for you would be to take the JB cab from Lavender bus interchange. It will saves u the trouble of getting lost.

I hope that helps

Ahhh, back in OZ and hopefully free of Bird Flu, Swine Flu, Malaria and any other disease. bacteria or virus floating around at the moment!

Evan, sorry about not catching up, we got back from JB later than expected on Tuesday and then played up a bit at Clarkes Quay - maybe next time...

The dilemma regarding travel was easily sorted out - we caught a blue SIN taxi from our hotel in the mornings that took us through immigration (SIN and Malaysia) to the Johor Bahru taxi rank where his mate (Yellow MAY cab) took us to the job site. The same cabbie picked us up each day and had a SIN Blue cab waiting to take us back to SIN.

The fare across to JB is set at $45 singapore

Cheap and stress free
