How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Property: The Como Melbourne
Status: Accor+ Platinum
Room booked: Superior Room
Room upgraded/type: Yes. Loft Suite (Gem)
Rate: RHR ~200
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast. Yes x 2 in the Brasserie, ala cart anything off the menu
Early check in/late out: not required
Welcome drink: No. Or perhaps I misunderstood, app notes welcome drink provided at checkin, I did not ask as not required was heading out til late.
Welcome gift: Vivo Shiraz and small bag of cookies.
Recommended: Yes. Though it’s heavily influenced by upgrade.

The location suited for an event I was attending and combining a night away with Mrs Mort. I was very happy with the stay, the upgrade was very generous from lowest to highest category. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was 2 levels with its own sauna and spa, just a pity it did not get used as we had other commitments.

Breakfast was nice, though the dining space was used as a corridor by the West Coast Eagles who were staying and they were noisy buggers 😀 going back and forth.

Here are a bunch of pictures, yes there are 2 separate bathrooms one off the main bedroom and another in the loft with sauna and spa

What you heard was them crying at their inability to win a game :( I say this as a suffering WCE supporter.

A query for those who travel more than I do

Online check in? This is being offered for a trip I have this week but wondered how that then worked with a room upgrade? Has anyone had any experience?

I do it all the time when offered and still get upgraded rooms.
I honestly think the online check in is just more of a confirmation that you are still coming and it doesn’t guarantee that you will be stuck with the room you have booked

The couple of times I’ve done it there hasn’t been any difference in the arrival check in time or process so have not bothered filling it in since.

Property: Novotel Darling Harbour
Status: Accor+ Gold
Room booked: Twin Room city view
Room upgraded/type: Yes on checkin was offered a Queen room Darling Harbour views on a high floor. However as we were getting the door keys coded, the General Manager Andrew came out from the back and greeted us and offered us a loft room on the highest floor and down the Darling Harbour end. said he could give it to us at a small price ($50 p/n). We were staying 2 nights and one was a free night, so decided to go for it. He threw in a bottle of sparkling as well.
Rate: Free night, plus base rate $300 for the second night.
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast. Yes buffet in the Ternary (usually I get a 50% discount, but when going to the table, the girl just checked our room number. ( I was surprised at checkout that there was no breakfast charge for the 2 days.
Early check in/late out: yes checked in at 11.30am and granted a late checkout of 12noon.
Welcome drink: via app x 2 anything on happy hour menu
Welcome gift: Ate Shiraz (again) bottle of water handed over in a bag at checkin Also a bottle of white and macarons were delivered to our room later. It was my birthday. A welcome note also.
Recommended: Yes

This is always my preferred Darling Harbour hotel to stay at. We are always treated here better here than at the other hotels.
We are always upgraded to very good rooms and the staff service is very friendly. Loft room was huge (2 story), 2 large sitting rooms, 3 TVs, although we don't use them. A toilet and wash basin downstairs and a huge bathroom upstairs, with spa bath and shower.

The hotel was busy with a conference, so we went down for breakfast at 8.30 after the rush. Service and variety of food always topped up. Eggs made to order. We also really like the restaurant at night but we had other dinner bookings for our 2 night stay.
Quick lifts and great location for exploring the city and harbour. There is a lot of construction going on in Darling Harbour, but we did not hear any noice (good to watch the action). Unfortunately there is a big apartment building being constructed in front of the hotel which will partially block some of the hotel rooms.

As mentioned before we have stayed in all the Accor Darling Harbour hotels and this is the one with the best friendly customer service.

I've never bothered with it. What's the advantage? Not like you can get a digital room key like other hotel brands and avoid the entire check-in desk.

I had that frustration at the Pullman Yantai Center a few weeks ago - could occasionally get the VPN to work after a lot of trying and faffing about - but often I couldn't no matter how hard I tried.

Free breakfast. Yes as platinum. Reasonably depressing buffet, livened up by chef loudly playing some cracking 90s old school bangers. Not sure the rest of the hotel was pumped for prodigy and fatboy slim at 7:30 but put a smile on my face…
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: In app vouchers. Offered more or less anything in cans from behind the bar.
Welcome gift: Accors favourite de bortoli wine, bottle of water, cheese plate (in fridge - impressed, why can’t they all do this), cookie, fruit platter.
Recommend: I assume this place was old and tired 15 years ago - now it has to be end of life. Bed was comfy enough though, staff were very friendly and the welcome gift was as generous as I’ve had. Does that even out - maybe, there’s not much Accor this side of town and it’s better than the ibis I stayed Hornsby way a while back…
