Singapore frequent traveller program [eGate Enrolment]

Automated clearance was awful last night circa 9.30pm. Bigger queue than the 'normal' desks and it took ages. People unable to work out what to do, especially 'where do I put my thumb to scan it?' People trying to use Aust passports that got rejected leaving them nowhere to go except to force their way back down the funnel that's only really wide enough for one person. People forming erratic lines at the 4 machines meaning some people got stuck behind a slow person and others bowled straight up to a free machine effectively jumping the queue. One official trying to deal with all 4 machines at once in terms of problems and assistance. If this is the future I don't like it! Might be better if it was a bigger space dedicated to these automated gates. Feels like a cattle pen atm.

The Automated (non resident) queue is a single line leading between counters where it forks a short distance to 4 or maybe 6 automated terminals. It is the same in T2 - I have not used any in T3.

the Queue often looks long compared to the others but generally moves pretty quickly - obviously not so yesterday.

Is application/enrollment automatically done the next time you go a manned counter?
No. Not handing out those cards anymore. Automated kiosks like AU, NZ, Etc if you have the right passport from the right country.

I've been stuck in a kiosk a few times and either directed to another one or to a counter. Both on arrival & departure.
I have noticed if I stand on the back half of the spot, the camera scanner works better for me.
There seems to be a few more glitches to work out with their system.

do you have to use specific terminals for non-residents? I thought can just use any automated terminals. I have been entering Sg probably over a handful of times, including cruise terminal and by land from JB, and just used any automated terminal.

Either a manned counter or one of the new automated gates.

Correct, you can't use the older resident/frequent traveller gates.
 
I have been though T2 and T3 4 times in last month - zero queues and process has been seamless and through within a minute or 2
 
Fronting up to the automatic gate at Terminal 3 with an AU passport and a pre-filled arrival card was one of the most seamless airport experiences I've had.

I believe so.


iii) SG Arrival Card (SGAC)
  • All travellers must fill in the SGAC declaration up to 3 days before arrival
  • Only Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass Holders entering via land checkpoints do not need to fill in the SGAC

It has basically become redundant. They have closed the Changi enrolment facility permanently.


Seems you can rock up to Woodland during set hours or make an appointment at the ICA building near Lavender.
 
T3 last night with new passport, done the arrival card thing but no FreqTraveller.

Rejected twice at electronic gates (different machines) said go to manual counter. Went to second bank of eGates where there was a guy and manual counter if you needed it.

Went through no problem 🤷‍♂️.

The auto enrol gate are a different design to the pre-covid gates.

Apols, I maybe shouldn't have posted here - not about enrollment/use of Freq. Traveller, just experience at eGates (as it was commented that the Freq Trav program is redundant).

I was in T3 and was pretty sure I used the right machines (I checked after the first rejection :) ).

At T3:

Down escalators; at bottom are helpers and opportunity to fill out arrival card; then a group of either 4 or 6 machines to the left, about half way into the space, with flags of e-program above them; moving on from that, another 6 or so machines also to the left with the flags of the e-program enrollment above them but here with attendants and a couple of manual counters for help. Away to the right, I didn't see clearly as I went left but longer queues and looked like manual processing, although I could see lights of the electronic kiosks there too.

Anyway, it still only took 10 mins (mainly at the second bank, where there was a queue of about 5 people at each kiosk) and I was still waiting for my bag for 10 mins.
