The article is about the Singaporean Competition commission clearing the Qantas/Emirates deal. I suspect they (being Singapore Govt and Singapore Airlines) are watering at the mouths over the deal..

Please excuse my ignorance but what has the JSA got to do with Singapore that needs its approval?

Qantas and Emirates want to do some co-ordination (pricing/scheduling/marketing/customer service/freight operations etc etc). The impacts in Singapore required Singaporean approval.

They have had to give some undertakings on the SIN-MEL and SIN-BNE routes, where they currently both operate services.
