Thank goodness I am flying SQ J again after 3.5 years, after my previous trip on SQ Y. So glad to burn all my remaining Krisflyer points for 4 * SQ J Savers to Europe and back. I had to book 355 days ahead on this one to ensure 4 J Savers in a flight.

I know that there are tons of meal photos in the SQ Tips, Trips and Tales thread but always thought it would be good to have dedicated thread on SQ J meals.

So I am flying SQ212 SYD-SIN today, and then the next flight is SQ328 SIN-MUC.

Below is my breakfast at Sydney SKL J lounge:

Decided to have Riesling in the morning, watching the plane take off and land. Great view from Sydney SKL:

This is my first meal, which is the Fried Radish Cake in XO sauce. It is tasty and surprisingly filling even though it is a Refreshment meal:

Next is the lunch meal. The menu is here but I had BTC Grilled Beef with Peppercorn Sauce:

Crab Salad with Cucumber Mango Salsa, plus Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve (NV not available on flight):

BTC Grilled Beef with Peppercorn Sauce:

The dessert is Apple Pie with Creme Anglaise, plus Slices of Fresh Fruits:

They all taste good, and the Grilled beef was cooked just about right.

This is the menu on SQ328 SIN-MUC

Entree which is the smoked duck breast:

I decided to order BTC Lobster Thermidor, as I haven't had it for a while. It doesn't taste as good as before, or my standard has gone higher? 20230628_015716.jpg

Then there is the pastichio compote which tastes quite delicious:

Breakfast time, starts with some fruit plate and crossiants:

Then we did BTC Eel Donburi instead. It was a right choice for me. 20230628_063317.jpg

This is the menu for SQ278 ADL-SIN last month:

It’s a 09:10 departure. A drink with nuts was served after takeoff:

A full lunch was served about 2 hours into the flight:

And a lighter meal was served shortly before landing:

Was all very tasty and there was plenty of food.

Last two times flying Singapore airlines business class I used book the cook. A tad disappointing both meals especially the seafood thermador from Sydney to Singapore.

BTC from anywhere apart from Singapore usually have limited choices so I have to be particular on it, or I just take the inflight menu option.

The crab salad was delicious- I ate it without the salsa.

Then I had BTC Beef with peppercorn sauce - not bad but beef overcooked to my taste.

The apple pie dessert was so delicious I forgot to take a photo.

For us the Grilled Beef with Peppercorn sauce is the most "solid" option for BTC from Sydney.

Same route as @JimmyJ, but in different direction and 1 day later:

26/07/2023 SQ377 MXP-SIN

Menu:

Lunch:
Starting off with stay chicken skewer which is always great:

Then had smoked halibut as appertiser, and it tasted good:

Main course is the Thai Style Green curry, I found it not spicy enough

20230726_171322.jpg

Then I had the Tiramisu dessert

20230726_172924.jpg

I also had a chicken noodle soup as a delectable in mid flight:

Then breakfast came with fruit:

And Braised E Fu Noodles with Abalone sauce:

Continuation of my trip SQ211 SIN-SYD on 27/7/2023:

Decided to have sweet and sour fish and rice as refreshment meal. A bit dry and not enough sweet and sour sauce:

20230727_095231.jpg

Then the "lunch" (closer to dinner tbh) starts with chicken satay skewer:

20230727_144407.jpg

More smoked salmon as appertiser:
20230727_151427.jpg

And then I had BTC Soon heng bak chor mee soup. Not as good as I hoped for.

My wife told me that her Boon tong kee chicken rice was disappointing. The rice are not real chicken rice, and the chicken meat are breasts rather than chicken thighs.

All the food pretty good.

I didn’t have the sandwich between BCN and MXP. The Miro lounge in BCN was very nice as well. Good food, lots of space and tastefully decorated. Had the veal for lunch and chicken noodles for breakfast, both every tasty. Smoked halibut entree was delicious, as was the limoncello gelato and cheese for dessert. Partner had the frittata for breakfast which was a 1/10 apparently.

Interesting comment on the frittata. Any photos?

I had the Matt Moran lamb SQ228 - was great.

The later inflight snack of duck and noodles was a bit of a let down, mainly a plate of 2min noodles with 3 pieces of duck, some greens and mushrooms. I think the other option was beef toasted sandwich, may have been better. First time in refurb A380 - great privacy but did not like the seat, angled and small cubby for feet and you had to push hard/twice on the buttons to get any movement. Also tried to link my phone to the screen with limited success...

Service was fantastic from all cabin staff

SIN-MEL SQ217

Chicken satay, chicken salad, saffron chicken, cheese and vienetta ice cream, finishing with chicken ragout.

Suffice to say it was a chicken day.

The food and service on all flights was very good to be honest. An improvement on last year in both respects. The main meal could have been served a bit quicker given the relatively short actual flight time (under 7 hrs). Some fruit and a piece of chocolate would also compliment the refreshment/light meal.
