Singapore Air Seat Selection

Hi All,

Just a qiock question, My partner and I are travelling Bne-Sin-Lon return, departing in a few days. We booked our flights (in economy) some time ago in economy and up until a day or two ago the online system showed each leg of the journey as full with every seat taken. Now when we login in to choose seats etc 2 of the flights are only half full. What is going on? Is this just people not having chose seats yet or is it that they actually won't be full (or is this too hard to know)?

You will probably find thats seats being held for codeshares and premium pax, that get returned to the pool close to departure if not taken.

Online check-in for SQ starts 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure, so whatever seats aren't allocated at that time and that are freely available to non-status passengers will be available for selection.

Even though a plane may show as half full now, it is not a good way to anticipate how full a plane will be. Alot of travellers do not online check in or have not pre-allocated a seat so you couldn't really estimate how full a plane is going to be. A better way to estimate how full a plane might be is, if you look at flight seats availability and see what numbers are showing against different bucket fares. If there are multiple lower bucket fares still for sale, then there might be a good chance its lightly loaded and airlines are willing to see tickets for "cheaper" prices to lure some business.

When in doubt with SIA - Ring - the "Singapore Girls" can often do things the web site will not allow particularly if you advise them that their website is "playing up"
and it often is !

Do VA SG's count as premium PAX with SQ? We have booked flights MEL-SIN-MEL for September (1 x gold, 3 x red). I was hoping to do seat selection once flights are ticketed.
