Singapore Accor Recommendations

Not wanting to hijack @DejaBrew 's thread, but also interested in Accor lower-end properties for an overnighter, late evening arrival with early morning departure- any suggestions ?

In general, Accor’s executive lounges are fairly modest, with limited food and beverage offerings and a basic alcohol selection. Personally, I wouldn’t rely on the lounge for the overall experience - Singapore has such an incredible dining and bar scene that it’s far more worthwhile to explore the city rather than sit in the lounge with average wine at set hours.

While I generally agree with your sentiments on Accor ELs, I disagree specifically on the Swissotel EL.

Evening canapés at sunset with a view of MBS and all the cargo ships heading in and out of the Malacca Strait is pretty special. As @Daver6 mentions, alcohol is extortionate in Singapore and drinks at a bar with a similar view will start at $30+.

Grand Mercure Roxy is about halfway between Changi and the CBD. Probably $10 each way in a Grab.

I've stayed in their Crest Suites on the last few visits, and they are hard to beat for a relatively low price (all things Singapore considered when I say 'low' :D)

I have three nights in a Crest suite at the end of Oct - looking forward to it! Using a few SNUs to bring the price down from $3k to $1.7k.

Thanks @sudoer
Familiar with the area, have stayed a few times at Village Katong, virtually next door.

Personally I'd look for non Accor options if you want to stay near the airport. Mercure Roxy is one solid midtier option. If you want super duper cheap, the Ibis budgets in Geylong area are reasonably close to the station from memory that's on the line to the airport.

Might consider that next year, my SNU is being used up in London this year for $1000 a night savings there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't book the Mercure Bugis if you don't like heights - they have rooms with loft beds which don't have balustrades for the final section of the stairs where you have to turn a corner.
This makes late night dunny runs dangerous.

But I keep booking there because it's minutes from my office, has a better breakfast buffet than most Accor properties, an Executive Lounge and is next door to plenty of food & drink options in Bugis Mall

I agree with this, very well located hotel. The height can be a boon for some as I've definitely sat on the stairs turn staring out the window before or reading a book and with double story windows, it feels huge.

Also the showering situation is a bit weird. There's no obvious area to undress so if you're with a partner that isn't comfortable about it, that could be awkward too. But otherwise I defintely agree that this is the sleeper value pick here.

You'll love it - and in case they don't mention it... everything in the Crest mini bar - boozy or otherwise - is complimentary in the Crest Suites, and they replenish it daily. It's not mostly empty like other places that offer this type of thing, either. There's wine, beers (standard Tiger & Heineken ;)) soft drinks, coconut & mineral waters, juices and snacks. A nice and initially unexpected bonus.

You already know my feelings on this 😂 I may need to introduce them to Alive Brewing and Pink Blossoms!
You'll find some good stuff down in the Cold Storage under the hotel - they stock Young Master (HK), Heart of Darkness (VN) and have a decent range of other things from all over. But venture out for the real good stuff... starting at 'Almost Famous' which is only a slightly sweaty 2.5 min walk to the Chijmes complex over the road :D (you know the drill)

This was my room view from the Swissotel a few years ago

The executive lounge view at Swissôtel Singapore is indeed stunning, but the drinks are self-serve with fairly standard spirits. It’s not quite the same as enjoying a $30+ coughtail made to order by a skilled bartender. Personally, I’d rather pick up a ready-to-drink option from 7-Eleven, which is affordable in Singapore and can be enjoyed anytime.

Wine/sparkling selections were also pretty average from memory.

@DejaBrew i just noticed that there's a few higher end including Fairmont Singapore listed under RHR. Whether they have rooms or not is another thing but if Fairmont has rooms at 269SGD a night, I think that'd be a solid deal. Mondrian is only until end of Oct but Pullman Hill St is at 200SGD.

You can also book flexible and check RHR closer to your dates. There can be some real bargains at times.

if want to bring the price down, maybe can join accor+ ?
hopefully as advertised can get BOGOF anytime with the free night on the higher price night.

All platinum benefit still apply also right?
