Hi Everyone

In a couple of weeks I will be transitting SIN on the way to EU and was seeking your thoughts on lounges at SIN. I'm QF gold travelling BA J and was aiming for the QF lounge however was there last week anyway (nice renovations since last visit) but wondering how other Oneworld affilated clubhouses compare, or even BA which I haven't been to before.

Appreciate your pro/cons although time is a factor with <2hrs both ways. (And apologies if this topic is already a duplicated thread)

Thanks

No problems in asking the question; can't help you directly (I use the EK lounge as an alternative to QF's but that's not available to you, I think).

Search the forum on "Singapore [or SIN] lounge crawl" and you should find some useful discussion :)

Your options are Qantas lounge, BA lounge or Skyview lounge.

Personally I find the Skyview lounge quieter and the food more to my taste.

The BA lounge is boring but I use it if I need internet access and to print something.

I don't need shower facikities and I don't care if champagne is served or not which seems to be important to some people.

BA is pretty good although no runway views it has a good finger food buffet and comfortable seating.

Skyview can be busy depending on the time of day and the chairs are really looking worn out now although it gets the job done

QF or BA are the way to go, good modern facilities with fairly good selection of food, although QF can get very crowded in the evening.

Skyview is very sad looking, noisy and in my opinion has a very 'contracted' lounge feel to it, slap in as many chairs as you can, put a couple of bain-marie with some ordinary food and you get Skyview, yes it does have a good tarmac view but thats about it!

Does AY direct you to one vs the other? I'm trying to work out which lounge will give me the best chance of a block of centre seats to myself in an upcoming AY Y trip. Is one set of angels better than the.other? I will be.arriving off BA codeshare. Thanks.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions and the tip on SIN lounge crawl topic. Just read it now.

-Rooflyer, funny you should mention EK. The choice I had of similar BFOD fares were BA and EK. Despite EK better product (IMO) I chose BA as I need the QF status credits, even at the 'new and improved' partner earning rate. The EK offer was only on EK metal and flight number. The QF* offer on the exact EK operating flights was >$1K, go figure!

Thanks again :)

For me the best experience is QF lounge for a shower, then CX lounge for dumplings, then MH lounge for satays and a massage, then BA lounge for ice-cream.

The BA LHR-bound departures coincide with some of the busier times at the Skyview so there's nothing much to see (or to seat) there. The QF lounge can be quieter and quite comfortable after the early evening AU-bound departures and for this occasion, I would say that is the pick. There are ample shower rooms here as well so it will work well as your first stop. After which, if you need a champagne-fix, head next door to the BA lounge. The MH lounge is in another terminal, and although still easily accessible, it closes at 9pm.

Me thinks that not everyone would have your priority order. The ice cream is really nice :rolleyes:

Happy wandering

The CX, QF and BA lounges are in the same terminal. The JL lounge is between the BA and QF lounges, but it's operated by SATS, so if it is busy, they won't let non JL pax in.
There are MH and QR lounges which you'll have access to, but they are in the other terminals - accessible (T1, T2 and T3 at SIN are all connected and you can either walk or use the train to get between them), but some distance away.

What is the JL (SATS Premier Lounge) like? I'm flying SIN - HND on JAL at an ungodly 1.50am next month.

It's mostly another generic lounge. Functional but nothing to write home about.

Just received the news that, the fish spa/massage place under the Skyview Lounge has turned into a Priority Pass "lounge". For PP members, from now till 30 Sep, you get a free 20-min fish spa and a half-price 10min head/upper back massage. Apparently, it claims to have bedrooms as well.

Also in somewhat related news, in SIN, the Haven (T3 landside) is now also part of the PP network. I have never seen anyone go in there before, mind you.

Thanks - this is really helpful to know for early morning arrivals into Singapore!

I think BA might just have the edge on QF with wines on offer, generally from smaller producers with high quality.
QF possibly better for food, showers are just about equal.
Depending on the time of your flight, other lounges may not be open, ie MH which wouldn't normally be having departures at 11pm when BA is taking off.

:D Choose the lounge with the coldest beer !

That's a good call however that choice could be more complicated because QF has two beers on tap (Tiger and Heineken served in the proper dutch fashion) and from memory BA is all in cans with no option of London Pride if memory serves me correctly! QF also mix coughtails for people on request.
