Hi
Does anyone have experience with purchasing pre-paid Sims for use in the UK, France and Italy? I'm only in each country for 3-4 days

From what I can see Orange have quite a good deal in the UK (2 pounds per day for 200mb) but I understand there may be some difficulty in France unless you have a local credit card.

I'd do some checking as many sims will roam cheaply through the EU. We've used similar before. Not sure what the data charges are though.

And of course make sure its a micro sim or you need to do some cutting!

I got linked to this site elsewhere on the web, but this should help for any roaming iPhone / iPad user:

Pay as you go sim with data Wiki

Not sure about ipad, but a freind recently used an iphone in the UK and there was a deal with O2 for unlimited text, unlimited calls and 'unlimited' data for GBP20 (per month).

The 'unlimited' data turned out to be 500MB per month - which is explained in the fine print but was not noticed by my friend. They then rang 02 and were given another 50MB 'to cover them' (but told not to exceed the limit next time).

Other telcos had pretty much the same deal, and they are valid for 3G devices only, with explicit warnings that if the device is put into a 2G phone it will be disconnected without refund. (and i have absolutely no idea why that is!!)

Pre-paid or is that on a plan?
