I'm fairly sure the 3 SIMS expire if they have been used - it was either 6 or 12 months after the last usage. If they are not used they may be OK. It has been a pain for the last two years but I want to keep my 3 SIM going because the number is connected to my UK bank account so I sent it to a friend in the UK and he puts the minimum amount on it and makes a call every 3 months

This prompted me to check mine and now they want 2FA with a number sent to my mobile which is in the UK - at least I know he keeps it on silent. Annoying

VPS mine aren't activated. The Japan ones said they needed to be activated by end of 2020 which didn't happen.
Just wondering at my 3 mobile ones which aren't even out of the packaging

If you have a newish phone (eg iPhone 10 onwards), there are some good deals on global and regional specific eSim plans.

I was going to start a thread on eSims then Covid landed….

In another life I sold SIM cards here in Oz. They expired as indicated on the pack when not activated. I remember throwing out hundreds. Yes hundreds.

So in this vein, is it worth getting a travel sim for a 3 week trip to UK and Singapore. Or just get SIMs from a convenience store when in country?

I'd go for the latter, especially in the UK. So cheap and easy.

UK sims are readily available. I got a GiffGaff one from Tescos. £2 (?) plus some credit. You can then order “bundles” on line depending how much data/txts etc.

As per my earlier comment, a decent eSim (if you have a dual sim phone) is more convenient theses days. Especially say for a short SIN stopover etc

UK is easy to get one in.
Husband is going to take one of the above 3ones and if it works when he lands, all good, if it doesn't he will just buy another one there

It depends if you have roaming on your Aussie phone and can get a message if you want. If you want to have the UK phone when you undo your seatbelt then get it before you go. They used to have vending machines with SIMS at Heathrow but it's been so long since I was there I don't know if they are still there

Just as a follow up The Three ones that I had purchased back in 2019 worked fine in the USA this year . Husband will use the other one for his trip in September
