SIM Card for IPhone in South Africa

We will be in S.A for three weeks in October, and on this trip I want to plan ahead and avoid outrageous roaming (especially data) charges that I usually end up incurring.

Does anyone know if I can purchase a pre paid SIM that will work in an Iphone, includes decent data allowance, and will have good phone coverage around Cape Town & the Eastern Cape? I have 3GS and Mrs G has Iphone 4.

I travel to Jo'burg often. On my first trip a while back I headed to the nearest Vodacom (Vodafone) retail store and asked for a pre-paid SIM for the iPhone 4 and had no issues. The SIM card costs R25 then you add the credit and data allowance you want. Most recharges expire at the end of the month following the purchase (ie at most 60 days after purchase). In terms of coverage you can check at Vodacom. There are other providers, but I have no experience with them.

The key tho is you will need to take your passport and hotel room key, or other bit of paper with your name and local SA address on it. Doesn't matter if you are staying there for only a couple of nights out of your trip. Once your pre-paid account is set-up you are good to go. Just remember that due to credit card fraud in SA there are very few places you can buy recharges online, and most take 24 hours to process the first recharge.
