My friend just flew VA and said that the seat is the same as the ANA Club seat except that on VA it goes fully horizontal rather than angled at about 170 degrees on ANA. He thought the seat was a bit ordinary and too narrow.

This seems to be a very popular J seat with VA, NH, LY, and AY using it in 2-3-2 configuration. Apparently IB use a wider version of the seat for their 340's in 2-2-2.

Can you name other airlines using this seat???

I believe Sicma is the manufacturer of the seats

Maybe it's a bad title.

It's just my observation that the top tier airlines like QF, BA, SQ, CX etc get their own seat designs manufactured whereas second tier airlines usually buy an 'off the shelf' product like the SICMA Majesty.

I noticed VA and the other airlines mentioned use this okay but fairly ordinary product and was wondering how many other airlines use it.

Innocent and boring as that!

I think it comes down to two things:
  • Quantity/Volume of seats require
  • Product differentiation in the market
QF, BA, SQ, CX have enough volume requirement to warrant the costs of developing their own, and they use their unique designs in their marketing campaigns to differentiate themselves.
