Sick of Recliners?

I just think this thread is on some levels quite hilarious...

  • All recliners are bad
  • All recliners are bad if they recline during meals
  • I recline because I am entitled to
  • You are an obnoxious troll because you recline because you are entitled to
  • You wouldn't have this problem if you were in business class
  • Well that's your answer to everything - you shouldn't even be in this thread
  • Let's ban all the recliners!
  • It's the airlines' fault
  • It's the pax fault for wanting cheaper fares
  • Kids shouldn't fly in First
  • What's that got to do with the price of fish
  • I always choose the chicken rather than the fish
  • What about pickled herring?
  • They only serve that on AY HEL-FRA - and THEY have air vents
  • You're back on recliners again aren't you...

This can only be resolved by

statistics!

We need to assess the extent of the problem by recording:

Duration of flight
Class of cabin
Seat of pax (to determine if they are in a sea of status or back with the unwashed masses)
Seat of recliner
Exit row or not (pax and recliner)
Duration of recline(s) and whether or not a meal service (or snack service) was part of the reclination situation

Frankly if a problem cant be solved by a pie chart and a Venn diagram then personally I think it is insoluable...

What's the references to kids kicking the seat from behind? Is this common? Why do they do it?

I think it is just a comparison of relative bad circumstances on board - for some people a small foot in the back is worse than a bald head in the face.

I brought this up because I find it infinitely more annoying than the person in front reclining. It happens often enough with a young kid, particularly on a long flight in economy. Who knows why kids do things? They get bored, and don't realise that the person in front is asleep and having nightmares about the plane crashing every time the seat is kicked.

I don't want to have to move this one to the playground, but its losing its value for this forum.

Sounds good to me - we'll never reform the ignorant barbarians who don't recline.
