Should under 3YO fly commercial services?

Given that English is only my second language, this is such a cheap punch below the belt that I won't even go down to the same stupid level of argument.

You should perhaps refrain from putting words in my mouth then, so to speak.

I am going to try and bring this thread back to intelligent discussion and alternate views which is what AFF is all about.

I don't have kids and have no problem with children on flights as long as they are looked after by a parent. The issue is 98% of parents do the right thing and ensure the child is taken care of, but there are the minority 2% who seem to plonk the kid into their seat and then ignore them for 10hrs plus. These 'problem' kids are usually older than 3 and get bored so decide to start running up and down the aisles, throwing food, etc. When this happens the only person I want banned from the aircraft is the parent! (actually the babies are fine if they get to sleep).

Banning kids from flights is not going to happen, having some kind of section especially for kids/families may be some kind of solution but again hard to implement/manage etc. Some cinemas run 'bubs' sessions so that mums and dads can take their screaming kids to a movie and not annoy other patrons, however you will never get a 'bubs' flight so forget it.

It really comes down to luck in terms of if you happen to be on a flight, close to a baby, who will not sleep, and will decide to cry for the majority of the flight. This comes to bad luck and has only happened to me once in many years of flying. Like life you just have to suck it up and deal with it.

Glad to hear that some members here refrain from ripping me apart and your comment is fair enough, as you say just an alternate view.

And if I've really been THAT unlucky on my flights and somehow always ended up with the worst of the worst, then I will actually more than happily be proven wrong by in the future ending up with the most blissfully quiet and well-behaved/ -looked after kids anyone can possibly imagine

And hopefully that shall be the end of that.

What's comment irrelevant comment...?

Anyway- no idea where you are coming from but you are speaking in riddles to me. But given the more often than not quite dismal quality of general education here in Australia, I wouldn't lean myself too far out of the window with this one if I was you.

Btw- can we go back to topic? I don't think the difference between education systems in Australia and Germany are really part of this topic, whatever weird connection you are trying to make here.

Exactly. I was not comparing the Australia/US and German education systems. That what you did and as I said it is irrelevant.

I offered my experiences with the German education system (no comparison made at all) and my presumption that you were educated there as an explanation for your extreme and ignorant views about children. That isn't a comment about educational quality, it is a statement that I've experienced ideas about children in german schools that have a striking similarity to uour views, which after all are the topic. I have no idea why you felt the need to distract from that point with your irrelevant comparison. Perhaps follow your advice and stick to the topic.

Hey medhead, don't mention the ah, we'll just don't mention it. (With apologies to John Cleese)
