Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

Lot of this is very US-centric, I can literally hear them up in the galley whispering in that really strong accent "Let's just make it DEE-CAAAFF"

Love number 15. Have just survived a couple of holiday season flights and those precious little monsters made life on board hell not only for the crew but for all other passengers as well

I've said it before and I'll say it again: There is no reason in the world why an under 3 year old should be traumatized (and hundreds of other paying passengers inconvenienced) only for the egocentric parents to have a nice far away holiday. I'd say no children under 3 on airplanes in general unless you can proof in writing that you have a really good reason for it (medical treatment, grandmother in England is dying from cancer and wants to see her grandchild before she goes or similar...).:shock::mad:

Why not ban all other passenger groups that may cause annoyance whilst you are at it. Soon enough it'll just be the pilots flying the plane with no one on board...

Sorry, but i will disagree with you here, totally. my now 9yo has travelled all over Australia and never had a problem. had I been able to she would have been overseas by now too, but that is another story. There is no logical reason why a child should be banned from flying. Should they be banned on a bus ride also?

There are a lot of reasons in my eyes and I'm talking infants, no problem with well behaved 9 year olds- many adults are behaving worse than them. The real issue is that the ear pressure differences affect a baby's ear more than an adult and the poor thing has no idea what is happening so the entire experience would be extremely intimidating for them. No wonder they cry like it's life or death the entire time! More importantly, because of all this, they create an absolute unbearable nuisance to anyone on that plane, including the crew. Have an infant on there crying the entire time and here it goes the chance for a half-way enjoyable flight.

And again- there are not many valid reasons why parents can't wait at least for three years or so until the child is old enough. Put them into the world so it's you to take the responsibility for those little cry-machines, don't expect the rest of society to take care of your little love bundles!

There are ways to soothe the pressure in the ear (for Pete's sake adults can go through the same).

Again my point stands - you ban all the annoying types off planes and you are left with no one...

Thankfully you are in the minority.. My daughter took more flights before she was 3 than some people take in half their life. Most were trips to WA. She did just fine, as with other babies I've seen in the plane. you can't just generalise and made an ambit claim that no child under 3 can fly. that's plain stupid. I'd rather they ban the DYKWIA's, but they are often harder to spot until it is too late.

Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

I don't think that's stupid at all. Everyone else has to suffer just for some ego-centric breeders, that is plain stupid in my eyes. But hey- this is not even the right thread for this so I just rest my case.

I don't get the logic - not all bubs have trouble flying, and you get some "mature" travelers cause more issues.

Cest la vie

you're right, the discussion has been done to death in the past.. but I'd rather "suffer" with a baby than a DYKWIA on a flight any day of the week.

My now 4 year old nearly got Silver last year as a FF.

She had 1 trip to HKG 1 trip to NAN in J

2 stops in the Flounge in Syd and 1 visit to the Flounge in HKG

A trip to PER and a few trips to MKY and only one complaint and that was from a person who didn't like the fact that she was playing on the fold down table and it was moving his seat a bit. She was colouring in all the way from PER to BNE and playing he leap pad game on the fold down table. I told her to stop being so rough on the table.

There was one J customer who made a snid remark about a kid being in J and I said well we paid for the ticket so get over it.

Reading posts about banning kids is suffering.

My 2 yo is flying tomorrow. She hates boring people, can she ask for them to be banned.

And you're not ego-centric in demanding they be banned to suit you? Frankly you have NFI why the children are flying. Maybe that last child did have a sick grandparent dying of cancer. My children have travelled as infants to see my family who live far away or to visit my father when he was dying of cancer or to be flower girls at my only brother wedding in Spain. They certainly were not a problem to other passengers, being in business certainly helps in that regard, my 3 year old was actually disturbed by the inconsiderate adult in the seat behind. Of course my oldest child has many times stayed silent and entertained them self on 5 to 10 hour car journeys.

BTW your definition of infant is wrong.

Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

Of course now all the kid bearers are trying to shut me off just defend their turf, surprise surprise. I'll stick to what I'm saying and will be closing off this ridiculous fight as it's just leading nowhere. Fact is: Kids under the age of 3 suck big time on an aircraft , are a nuisance for everyone around them an most likely get traumatized for life just so that their ego-loaded parents can have a nice time. People like that should't even get kids but that's a different topic altogether.

What a narrow minded load of cough. With an attitude like that I'd imagine you are that DYKWIA that causes more issues on a flight than any under 3 would.

Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

I've been trying several times now to finally conclude this whole discussion with a "Agree to disagree" but of course certain people can't stop kicking. I'm actually not surprised about the raising aggressiveness: Obviously somewhere the frustration about that lost holiday season with cheering family fights and annoying crying children has to find itself a release.

What a narrow minded load of cough.

Luckily I'm not easily offended but the one here who is narrow-minded and clearly doesn't give anything about the people around you is yourself.

Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

When my little 'un flies and even when an infant I always bought and buy her a red e deal ticket if we were down the back half so she had a seat to her self. Mannej point comes to mind as once one of the adults on the plane tried to move back from the middle seat of the row in front to her aisle seat on a full flight. I took great delight in summoning a crew member to sort it out. Talk about DWKWIA.

Of course she loves being able to sit up the front and get an OJ before push back, it will be even better when she is old enough to speak and carry her own boarding pass then I won't have to stop others sitting in her seat she can do it for herself. Hopefully by the time she is 3.

Go have a look in the mirror and you may be surprised at what you will find. You have been the agressor, you have been the narrow minded one. I have not put anything to suggest that I am one of these ego-loaded parents etc. Tell me where exactly have I stated that the only person I care about on a plane is myself.

I am talking from experience here, I have been sat next to infants under 3 before, and they have been angels, so therefore your FACT is more OPINION. As an aside - an infant will never get a plane turned around due to their behaviour will they?

No offense, but it is the narrow minded perceptions such as these that cause more issues...

You brought it up and you started the agressiveness in the first post with the "egocentric parents" comment. Most times we fly with kids we get comments about how well behaved they were and/or how well we looked after them. If you don't like it then hire a private jet.

Re: 17 Things Your Flight Attendant Won't Tell You

You got to have the last word, did you? And you must be joking, I was simply voicing an opinion which I think is totally justified (like any other opinion on here) and you started telling me that what I am saying is a "narrow minded load of cough"- who was the one who started taking this discussion to a whole new level of aggressiveness? I bet you won't be able to resist to have yet another last word but that's it from me on this thread- it's getting rather boring to be honest.
