Should I stay in Abu Dhabi or Dubai on way to Istanbul??

Flying from SYD to AUH then IST in July 2012 on Etihad.

I want to stay 1-2 nights in Abu Dhai or Dubai

I assume its just an easy short trip to Dubai then back to AUH to get the ongoing flight

What do members suggest as to where to stay?

It's a 12 lane freeway connection and at 160kph takes about 40 min.

Personally I would stay in Dubai if you only have a short time. Take a desert tour with dune riding and sunset/evening meal in the desert.


There is plenty to see in Dubai in your limited time. A city tour if you are that way inclined or just taxi to Emirates Mall etc.

Both cities are fascinating, the 1st time around.
