I spotted this deal a few days ago - the price is closer to AUD$415, but I end up with two cards and two complimentary nights' stays: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145781

I travel to Melbourne a few times a year and could definitely get use out of the free nights at the Sofitel there, but has anyone else had good experiences with the program (or the hotels in general)?

I travel a fair bit - reckon the A+ club saved me more than $1k last year. I just renewed my AU A+ membership a week ago so missed seeing this post. I was offered Standard A+ membership (inc 'free' night) plus a second card at a significant discount, sans the 'free' night. Didn't take up the second card option as I'd rarely use the double up (50% on 4 x ).

Also, when sorting out missing points, the A+ team are pretty helpful.

I just renewed my Card.
I have had it for 5 years and have definitely got my moneys worth.
Last year we spent 4 nights at the Sofitel Melbourne using our free night and a mixture of 50% discount and points we paid $580 all up. A bargain!
We've used many a time and will again.
The half price dining is great too.

It depends on how much you travel. I spend about 90 nights per year in Accor hotels, mainly in Asia Pacific and this card would save me a few thousand dollars between accommodation and meal discounts. And the free night is normally pretty good if you use itmto the right time.

You will be hard pressed to get a redemption room at the Sofitel Melbourne, or any Sofitel in my experience unless booked 9-12 months in advance. It's an excellent hotel however, like all Sofitels IME.

I left this program and retained my LeClub, which is free (at the entry level) but has better benefits when you stay at their properties often. Also Adv+ only has benefits in Asia Pac. If you travel further abroad, such as EU or US, only LeClub is recognised, Advantage Plus is useless there.

I booked my free night at the Sofitel Melbourne 6 weeks out from the date and added it to a promo for 50% off rooms.
I have also mainly used my free night at the Sofitel Sydney, never had a problem booking. Last year I used it for the Australia Day weekend and booked it just before Christmas.
I think availability has got better over the years.

I also have the LeClub which is on the same card.

I had no problem redeeming my free night at Sofitel Brisbane (and I never plan ahead.. typically less than 2 weeks notice). That and the meal discount paid for my single Accor Advantage membership.
I've also used my points for nights at the Novatel Melbourne but I'm not sure if that's because of LeClub or Accor Advantage..
I'll probably do it again :)

And I booked my free night at the Sofitel Sydney about 4 weeks before my stay in January and it was the night that the Sydney Festival launched and the cheapest room was about $400!! So availability doesn't seem to be an issue - hasn't been the case for 4 years actually.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Was that a Friday or Saturday night? Therein lies the problem.

I booked for a Saturday night - wasnt a problem, was amazing that I could use my free night, on a Satirday night, whem the cheapest room was $400, and that was booked only 4 weeks before. So absolutely no issues here getting to use the free night certificate.

Must have improved. I ditched it about 3 years ago due to lack of free night availability on weekends and patchy acceptance at domestic hotels.

I have been a member for about 1.5 years & redeemed my free nights at Sofitel Brisbane with no problems & this year I used Pullman Brisbane for my free night, even got upgraded to a nice room on the free night. Both on weekends btw.
