If i go both ways that is basically 2/3 of my points (60K per direction). Took me the better part of the last decade to get them.

If i go both ways will it at least help with the tranfer process in LAX?

Keep in mind i am travelling with a friend
If i get a points upgrade do you think they will give him a OPUP either if i ask for it or automaticaly if im already in business?

I would suggest that the simple answer is NO even for you to get a points upgrade is going to be hard so an opup for a friend. I very very highly doubt it.

I'll register for the upgrade. Wish me luck.

Going to feel so slack if i get this on both trips leaving him in premium. He only has 35k. Looking for a few credit card program to sign up to so he can get those joining bonuses but that will only get him one direction at most

Your points are only going to devalue the longer you hold onto them. Good decision to request both ways.

Were you successful, you'd get to leave the plane before Y+ and Y pax.

That helps a little with immigration and Customs clearance but no, there is no express pass for J/F pax at LAX.

On the way back, again a shorter security queue and priority boarding for J pax.

Oh well

I was hoping to spend some time in the lounge in LAX but i guess its straight back on to the plane. I hear its a very tight transfer process.

On the "use them or lose them" rationale I would endorse previous comments about seeking an Upgrade on points on as many of your international sectors as you can afford. If you do not get an upgrade over you might get one back. Try your luck.

Keep in mind that the journey is the best part of 24 hours so it's unlikely you won't want a decent sleep at some stage. For jet lag purposes, the earlier you sleep the better (on the way over).

Some people think if your sleeping you arent getting the service you are paying for, others think its better to have the bed.

For me flying J/F is more about the seat/bed than the service, I just want space and the possibility to have a bed to sleep.
