Should I do a status run?

Wow skyscanner is amazing! Woot!

I'm hesitant to fly Qantas internationally, everyone I speak to says not to do it. My normal travel agent said that in the last few years he's only sold 3 international qantas flights and that he strongly advises people not to fly them.

Was there a reason for that? Apart from higher prices I don't see a reason why that would be.

I honestly don't know, everyone who I speak to says avoid qantas internationally.

I've been playing with Any Seat awards on the Qantas website - does anyone know how the "minimum points' are worked out for Points + Pay. I'm trying to find some flights out of Sydney with connections which give good status points but don't have a super high minimum points threshold

There is nothing really wrong with Qantas international if you are on the A380 or the refurbished 747's

In business class there are better options, but for premium and economy all is much the same

IIRC the minimum for a Points+Pay is 5000 points but they give extremely poor value compared to a JASA.

For a JASA the minimum points and pay is the same as the classic award level for that route (in theory LOL).

FYI I emailed Qantas about 3 days ago asking what the go is with the double status offer, if/when I will get offered it before my membership year runs out. So far no reply which is disappointing! I emailed virgin the other week for something and got a reply back with 24 hours. Qantas is definitely lagging in the getting back to customers department.

Given DSC offers are a marketing device designed to stimulate EXTRA bookings, you can hardly expect to be given a heads up! As a guide, most get it at anniversary - 3 months, while a more generic campaign starts after Easter to stimulate revenue as the year closes out.

If you make a booking before receiving the DSC, but travel within the DSC window, would that booking still be given the double treatment ?

I have never received one so I don't know really.

Just need to know whether I should hold off making a booking as close to my anniversary as possible in the faint hope I may get one.

If the reply is yes, I would make the booking now anyway to lock in the seat.

Thanks in advance

Early 2xSC offers were for any travel, irrespective of when booked, but that was some years ago. These days they have generally been for NEW bookings made within an offer period.

Just to add that I hadn't actually ticketed my booking the TA had just gotten three quotes from QF, CX and a.n.other and because he PNR was created before the offer went out they argued that it was a booking. I forwarded them evidence that the booking was made after the after - an email to my PA advising to book QF.

Thank you, serfty

Good to know that.

I'd hold off the booking for as long as possible.... who knows, QF God may be kind to me.

If not, I am in a bind.

SYD MEL in J only gives me 80 SCs while I need 90 to crack WP.

I cannot change the trip as I'm travelling with Mrs.

So, unless the DSC smiles on me, I would have to look for that 10 SCs elsewhere.

Please, please.... could I have it this time ?
