Need to travel from SYD T3 to pullman mascot, will be travelling with family and lots of luggage so walking is off the table.
Should I risk potential abuse from taxi driver and head to the rank or Uber / didi more workable for these sort of trips.

Have you connected the hotel regarding a shuttle service?

Unfortunately it doesn’t say whether it’s free or there’s a fee.

Pullman and Ibis don’t operate any free shuttles

I believe it costs around $10 per person. With 4 of us better cost wise to use uber

Not only is it not free, it's not overly regular or quick (if you value your time).

They rarely are heading from an airport. At least going back you can plan around the schedule.

The 350 bus is very regularly (I’m actually surprised how many I see coming and going at the BJ end). For $2.30 ea for 2 stops (about 5min ride) and a shortish walk, it’s a contender but baggage space is very limited.

You could also consider taking the 350 bus for a stop. It drops you about 50m from the hotel.

But overall i would never take a taxi frim SYD airport to anywhere. If i absolutely needed to I'd take an uber

You shouldn’t ever be concerned about taking a taxi a short distance from SYD - SYD operates (well used to when I worked there) a short-fare system. In conjunction with the taxi operators, taxis that haven’t left a certain geo boundary and return within x minutes are fast tracked to the start of the taxi queue. I guess dodgy taxi drivers don’t like it because it probably means they have to do things properly with their meter running etc.

Doing this later this year domestic to hotel @somebol , then back in the morning to international.
Wondering what you eventually did (taxi v uber) and the cost please?

I don't have the Uber app - yet!
Its free to download, and good idea to familiarise onself with it.
It will detect your current position and use that as the starting point but you can insert a dummy starting point to see the fares.
Your current position can be modified once you book a car by moving the location pin to more accurately indicate your pickup location

Consider where you actually want to car to pick you up. Sometimes you may want to be picked up at a location where the car can actually stop to pick you up - for instance if the street has no stopping or no parking street signs etc.

Both my old folks have been set up with Uber app so its easy to use.

Thanks @Quickstatus
Mr Flyfrequently has the App and we have used Uber / Grab etc overseas - might hijack his phone and have a play,
And thanks for the reference to your old folks 😉

And get Didi too. Quite often Didi will be a fair bit cheaper for rides to/from SYD.

And quite often one or the other - more often didi - will have discounts, which can make it even more attractive.
