I was browsing through Wotif and Zuji (see here) and noticed that the Sheraton in Noosa offers a 'Sheraton Surprise' which will cost $656 for two nights and says:

Take a chance on where you sleep tonight. With options varying from our most comfortable Noosa View Room, to a stylish Noosa Lifestyle Studio featuring state of the art facilities or one of our spacious suites.

I know if that I book this, I will be rolling the dice as to what room I will actually get. My question is, has anyone done this sort of thing before - and if so, did it work out favourably?

I'm just concerned that I might end up with a cough room for an Australia day weekend break.

Otherwise known as a run of house booking, given the long weekend it's bound to be busy, and a quick look at the normal booking site will reveal inventory left on offer as well as normal cost, if its equal cost to the lowest room then should be hard to go wrong. I think I have only had one average room at Noosa and that was a wheelies room.

Hmm... it's an extra $75/night above the standard room. So I would be rolling the dice on this, kinda like gambling ;)

The IT programmer got it wrong and they actually meant 'Sheraton Supplies' Room - you get to spend the night in the housekeeping pantry?

So all booked and paid.

For future reference, these were the costs (and I will report back when I find out what room i'm getting - so we can see if there is value with this sort of deal) - two night stay:

'Surprise' = $656
Twin = $497
King = $546
Noosa View = $637
River with Pool View = $797
Ocean View = $917
Suite = $997

*fingers crossed*

PS... I sent the hotel a email so they could add our SPG number onto the booking (it's only Gold so we get bugger all anyway - hopefully the odds are ever in our favour lol)

Good luck,

I tried to book it but could not do it for a family of 2A and 1 4 year old.

Could not find the offering.

Came up to Noosa today and ended up with a two level pool access suite. So overall - a great outcome given the tariff paid. Using the above tariff's, the suite was $997 for two nights and I paid $656 - a saving of $341.

Spoke to reception when checking in and was told that there were heaps of cancellations due to the weather (not sure if this is the reason for the great room or not, but i'll take it!).
