A while ago it was discussed in a thread how the sheraton brand was tired and there were plans to revitalise the brand-

About that time they put out a press release about creating a new tier of Sheratons-Sheraton Grand. They now have announced the first 10 in this new tier with a hope there will be 50 by the end of the year-
Starwood Introduces Sheraton Grand

The Sheraton Grand designation signifies an exemplary hotel offering for both guests and local communities, with hallmarks including:

  • Resorts, convention properties, and urban hotels that offer unrivaled standards of service and outperform guest satisfaction benchmarks
  • Dynamic guestrooms and public spaces exhibiting sophisticated design and elevated finishes
  • Desirable and sought-after locations ranging from primary city settings to spectacular beachfronts
  • Impressive hotel amenities, including top-rated restaurant concepts and renowned chefs, superior gyms, unique Sheraton Club lounges, and an array of idyllic spa options
  • Inspiring and state-of-the-art function space for events, meetings, and conferences

Not surprisingly the SGS Bangkok is one of the 10.I hope though this doesn't mean they will get a Sheraton lounge.I much prefer the benefits as they are now.

Where can we find a list of properties that are within this "tier"? Are all Sheratons currently branded with the word "Grande" considered a part of the tier?

Starwood certainly doesn't make deciphering their branding jargon easy for the average guest...

At this stage I believe it is just the announcement with the 10 founding hotels named in the Starwood link.
Meant to be a new standard but one was all to have a Sheraton lounge.I would hate to see that happen at the SGS.The current system suits us.

Does the SGS not have a lounge? What is the system currently implemented that "suits us"? I'll be in the SGS next week but haven't had a chance to check out the property's amenities or lounge availabilities.
