Hi All - Quick question.

Off to SFO on Sunday with AIRNZ as a VA WP in PE

Question re Lounge access. I have checked the VA website (and we know that is pretty unrelieable) so for those that have done this journey - is the Lounge access in SFO on an AIRNZ flight as a VA WP?

I am fairly sure the answer is no

Cheers

I'm not 100% sure either, but think the answer is no I'm afraid. Can't hurt calling Velocity to double check and maybe also try when in SFO. Air NZ use the SQ lounge there, so you may get lucky being an alliance parter with both airlines.

Answer is no. NZ do not operate a lounge, thus no lounge access unless you're in J.

Yup! Rather annoying as it is not the most entertaining of terminals either. Hopefully with the new QF syd->sfo route virgin might attempt to fix this.

Perhaps a chance to check out the AMEX Centurion Lounge if you have an AMEX card? US$50 pp unless you have a Plat/Centurion charge card, in which case it's free.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

While they don't operate the lounge - they 'wet lease' from SQ for the hours they need it, rather than an typical setup when they use another airlines lounge. To the point that during NZ's use, they don't let other *A Airlines passengers in!

Hopefully NZ/VA can tidy it up

It's only VA frequent flyers that have the issue, not NZ frequent flyers. But I presume all of this is down to the fact that NZ/VA only work together on the Tasman, so the reciprocal lounge benefits don't extend to the US flights.

Ah yes, you're correct. LAX is the one exception.
It was the one exception.

Hoeever that page is out of date ... it is referring to the (now defunct) LAX T2 NZ lounge.

The only way for VA elites to get complimentary status based access to the *A lounge at LAX TBIT is to be travelling on a VA flight number.

I had this discussion with VA on facebook some weeks ago.

Paid access at TBIT for USD60 may be available.

Because it's no longer an Air NZ lounge, much like the QF lounge in TBIT is actually a one world lounge.

We're lucky that we both have *A Gold for our NZ flight out of LAX.

When you say "travelling on a VA flight number" do you mean VA marketed and operated flight eg sold as VA2 (VA metal) or sold as VA codeshare but DL metal?

The DL flight doesn't depart from TBIT so it's irrelevant really.
