I don't know whether there has been poor weather at CAN, but an airline that wants many more Australians to fly with it and has big plans, CZ, is experiencing some severe delays.
Last night the incoming CZ301 at night was more than two hours late and therefore missed curfew ex SYD on the return to CAN, not departing SYD until 0654 this morning.
Today, CZ325 was meant to arrive SYD at 0905 but is now not due until 2216 tonight: B-5917 is the operating craft. Sydney Airport claims that it is departing at '2259' but that may be the stuff of fantasy. This looks like a near 24 hour delay for the unfortunate travellers (although if one was on a Sydney holiday and could be flexible with a return date, an extra night in an hotel at CZ's expense might be well received). Not so for business travellers, though, and there must be some of these given that mainland China is our largest trading partner.
The day flight today CZ301 pulled up on blocks at SYD tonight at about 2130 so may just beat curfew at SYD tonight in departing for CAN later than the 2215 timetabled departure, as 45 minutes is an impossible turnaround.
