Random bump sorry. Anyone know if I'll be able to get in the shared lounge with a complimentary qantas club pass before qf94? Thanks
Reports are the answer is yes - although that is still subject to capacity rules.

I used the first lounge last week before qf94. Crowded, noisy (people on phones and a few babies), and wifi that took minutes to even get an IP address. The food was ok, but I'm not overly fussy.

This is made worse by TBIT airside being the worst and most boring terminal on the planet (Unless I missed the excitement somewhere). Priority boarding was more like a rugby scrum thanks to them paging in the lounge long before boarding even started thus resulting in ~100 people who all thought they were more important than everyone else around the priority area.

Used First again on Sunday night before QF12. Just as woeful internet, ended up using the LAX free wifi rather than the Qantas internet. Was able to get an IP on Qantas but browsing was totally dysfunctional. No spare seats to be found, had to sit at the blank computer desk.

Protip: don't wait with the sheep at the lift down, take the stairs!

Any updates when the j and f one world lounges at lax will open? I note that the new star lounge has opened up.
Bump Bump

Anyone ?
The *A lounge has not opened as yet, even though complete.

It could be as early as September when it become operational.

First peek at Star Alliance LAX lounge | Travel Weekly

Anyhoo, as far as *O goes, *A needs to move from where they currently are so *O can take over that space while the current area is remodeled.

*O will remain on the 5th Floor and absorb the current *A lounge area as well expanding somewhat. See here for a layout: http://www.lawa.org/uploadedFiles/LAXDev/News_for_LAXDev/July 2011 Newsletter Insert.pdf

The new *A lounge is on the 6th floor 'above' and West of the (new) *O lounge area and have at least twice the space than the current 5th Floor TBIT *A lounge.

FWIW, AirNZ have announced are planning to move operations to TBIT in "early 2014":

New LAX terminal for Air New Zealand will deliver better passenger experience

We went to AA lounge in Lax on way to SFO, nice foyer but once inside with our single drink voucher, looked like the dregs had arrived as they sat in the old chairs in run down surroundings, we left then and there and though how lucky we are to have such nice QF lounges with as much a one can eat or drink.

Yes, I believe you can exit the secure area. You just have to go through security screening again to get back into the departures area.

If Qantas is still calling Australia home, why is the wine in the LAX lounge from Chile?

Because the lounge is technically a joint OW lounge, even though QF branding is everywhere... I recall at the time of QF12 leaving there were staff in QF and CX uniforms at the door.

So would you prefer sparking from Australia or champagne from France?

I understand the whole patriotism behind QF's marketing but you have to draw a line where practicality calls for it...

I not a great fan of the TBIT lounge when compared to T4, but all of the above are a huge improvement over the gate boarding area.

Happy wandering

Re star lounge - really?

Latest lawa newsletter still shows central core under construction, despite the opening event for the old mayor...

Access to the new part of the oneworld lounge via the time lift, as shown in the insert.
