Hi all,

Can you experienced Emirates flyers help me?

I plan to bring a family member to Australia, using QF points to purchase three separate award flights, flying F with Emirates:
LHR - DXB, DXB - SIN, SIN - MEL.

1) Will Emirates check luggage all the way through from LHR to MEL
2) Is this too risky a plan? e.g. if one leg is delayed?

Many thanks in advance :-)

Thanks for the question.
I’m building the itinerary using the QF multi-city tool - ‘knitting’ together three separate legs (LHR-DXB-SIN-MEL) that are’t otherwise offered together as a single reward itinerary (ie. LHR-MEL). However, I’m unsure what happens with:
1) luggage - can it be checked all the way through? I believe it can - because it’s Emirates all the way and a single itinerary (using the multi tool) - but I think best to check!
2) delays - what happens if one of the flights is delayed and missed a ‘connecting’ flight? Will the passenger bear that risk and have to buy a new ticket, or will Emirates bear that risk and put the passenger on the next later flight, no issues? I think if all three legs are purchased on a single itinerary, using the multi city tool, then Emirates will bear the risk of delays / missed connections. But again - I just want to check I’ve understood correctly.

I’m knitting together separate flights for the return journey - but I can’t use the multi city tool, the flights are completely separate purchases, and separate airlines.
1) CNS - SIN (SilkAir, using velocity points)
2) SIN - LHR (BA, Using QF points).
So I believe it’s my risk if the first flight is delayed - so I’m putting a 24hours buffer between these two flights.

I hope that clarifies :)

Have I understood correctly where the risk lies?

How long were you planning to be in SIN for?
