Most impressed with AA customer service via Twitter.
Had the usual issue of being unable to select seats on a QF codehsare flight. No problem for AA , just gave them my ticketnumber and surname they found my booking , gave me the AA locator code , and did the seat assignment all in the space of a 5-10mins.

That's been my experience too. AA do online customer service rather well for simple tasks.

Contract that with my phone call experience with QF this morning. MrsDaver6 and I are on the same flight PER-SIN but different bookings. I'm WP and she's SG. So I have to contact QF to get her seats next to me. It took a little over 16 minutes to do on the phone. First couple of minutes is wasted going through the phone systems and listening to their spiels about whatever. Get put through after another couple of minutes on hold. Request is done easily, but put on hold for around 10 minutes while it's executed.

Try doing that online with QF on social media. Good luck to you! Would take forever just getting a reply and suspect beyond their ability to understand the simple request.

If you're talking to qf booking/changing AA flight, ask for the AA booking ref (or "Record Locator"). Should only take them a few sec to find, and then you can view and select seats (and other things) yourself via the AA app.

I booked AA flights using QF points, how or where can you find the AA booking reference.

Will then that allow me to select seats.
Assuming the flights are on an AA number, if you don't want to go through AA's customer service on Twitter/X, there are two options: input the PNR into British Airways' MMB, which should provide you with a link to AA, or input it into Malaysian Airlines' MMB and Ctrl+F for the word 'locator' in the page source, which brings up the AA PNR.

Look in BA.com (or MH). The former might actually take you to aa.com for seat selection. There ought to be a hyperlink with AA PNR (jot it down while you’re there).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks,

Why doesn't Qantas have this, why in the world do I need to go to www.ba.com, thanks for the link, at least I have an aisle seat.

How hard is it to select a good seat with extra leg room, $91.00 USD for CLT to LAX seems like a bargain.

Do you need to have a AA log in for the booking to show up on app, or should I just have an AA account and use the booking reference so its on the app.

Probably worth comparing that against buying a cash fare and paying for a Main Plus bundle on aa.com (the US site), particularly if you don't have status (you'll be up for another $30 for a checked bag otherwise).

I have a forthcoming SFO-MIA flight, and it was $54 for the Main Plus bundle which offered Main Cabin Extra extra legroom seats (with free booze!) and a checked bag. I think it's about $61 for CLT-LAX. But Main Plus bundles are only available for cash fares at the time of booking. Anyway, you pays your money and you takes your choice...
