Flew IST-SIN yesterday. First I went through airport screening at the International Arrivals counter, no problems, simple and easy. About 20 minutes later, I popped out for a smoko, and on my return tried security upstairs at the Departures, different thing: Now I needed to take out laptops (yeah, I carry 2), belt, watches, shoes... plus two coins in my pocket beeped so had to get frisked as well.

I said I just went through the security downsairs and I did not do any of these, I was wearing my watch and belts, had coins in my pockets, did not take out laptops, and the response was that "settings may be a little different". A little?

To be sure, suggest you all strip down of everything!

Maybe downstairs is considered Constantinople so it has different security procedures........

All very funny, but I have found security at IST to be quite realistic.

As opposed to Australia, I might add.
