Security breach SYD QF

At SYD airport today a man paying more attention to his IPad skipped through the wrong gate bypassing security.

When this happens, does everyone, including those in the QF lounge have to evacuate along with everyone else. If so, I could imagine some disgruntled pax.

cheers;)

The extent they go to when this like this happen is a bit extreme. Depending how quickly they respond, they shouldn't need to rescreen the entire airside, much less deboard aircraft. They should be able to follow the breach on CCTV.
In this case, I don't see why they needed to rescreen everyone at all. The pax arrived on a flight - thus had already been screened. Unless that pax came into contact with someone between exiting and reentering via the exit doors, there isn't anything that would have changed from when they had been screened at the departing point.

Overreacting

I was not present for this case of rescreening due to security breach but I was at SYDd in Jan when a plane load of unscreened came into the terminal after their flight instead of exiting through another gate. The entire SYDd was rescreened, everyone was cleared from the lounges. I don't know if they pulled people off planes still at the gate awaiting departure.

They cleared the back log pretty quickly and IIRC some flights were delayed by approx. 40-50mins.

In situations like this - it would be interesting to know if people here have been pulled off aircraft awaiting departure / or not. I would expect that if the crew on board hear about a potential security breach then the first instinct would be to close all doors and withdraw the aerobridge asap! At what point does the aircraft legally leave the jurisdiction/authority of the security people on the ground, when the aerobridge and stairs are removed? Pushback clearance from ATC? When the pilot in command says so?

At least for domestic flights, I would assume at least until takeoff, and even then the Infrastructure Department has powers to order pilots to comply with security directions when they are anywhere in Australian territory, I believe subject only to the pilot's paramount duty to ensure the safety of the aircraft. Not sure what the relevant ICAO conventions say about international flights.
