Second man arrested on jet in Detroit

Reports on Radio indicated this person locked themselves into the Lavatory for "an hour" and became abusive on exitng.

Assuming this person was up to the same tricks as Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, maybe the 1 hour of "being seated with no personal items on one's lap etc." thwarted any such tricks.

It's a shame really if that's the case as I consider such 1 hour restriction a real pain.

US carriers particularly ime have the "sit down with seatbelts fastened" part from 30 minutes already, so is an extra 30 mins.

I don't see how it is a shame if a rule put in place actually served the exact purpose for which it was designed

I meant pain, not shame.

Note that it appears that during this 1 hour hiatus, passengers are not even permitted to read or even hold a book (whereas this was OK with the 30 minute rule).

Wonder what happens if you sneeze, and need to reach for a tissue or hankerchief.
The whole one hour thing is laughable, next time something like this happens it will be 1 hr 30mins before landing so no access to anything 2hrs prior to landing, etc.

One hour would probably seem like a lifetime if a person had a touch of diarrhoea.

Stark choice: Get arrested or :oops::oops:

Interestingly, under the new regulations, the guy that tackled the fireworks lighter would be arrested for leaving his seat.. Irony.
