I have a friend travelling MEL-HKG (QF029) and return (QF030) soon.

She is PS and has a profile preference of forward window.

Been allocated 35K out and 34A back...far as I can see you can't get much more forward window than that (in Y). Doesn't seem to be any difference with these seats in the different 3-class configs - out of curiosity, which config 744 operates this route?

These seats appear fine (presumably tray and screen in armrest?) - she is quite small so slight narrowing of seat wouldn't hurt. Also appear to be over wing though that shouldn't be an issue on outbound night flight. Any hidden nasties she should know about that may cause her to want to move? Bassinets in the middle section of seats are a known risk I guess.

Oh, and I thought she would have an option to move seats in MMB - but no 'box' appears allowing this to happen. Have I missed something (doubtless I have  )? Outbound flight in about a week.

TIA

Its normally the 14F, 50J, 315Y version.

QF does not provide an option to move seat allocations on-line. You can only do that over the phone.

Your friend seems to have pretty good seats. Although if an infant is using the bassinet located in the middle of the cabin it could be annoying for her.

I understand that QF uses a standard 3 class configuration in the HKG route, so the seat in the bulk head should have the tray table and tv in the armrest. But the seat in row 35 may have the tv and table in the back of the seat in front.

I’m not too sure about being the trouble your friend is having in moving seats. Perhaps she should call the QF call centre and request a change that way.

Thanks for the replies. Must be confusing MMB with being able to alter your seat with domestic OLCI. Doesn't sound like any need to change...

As cjg has commented, these are pretty good seats for economy.
Having recently taken QF29/30 to LHR with family we had 35K on outbound. This row is directly behind a row of seats reserved for the crew. It has a blue curtain type arrangement from the top of the seats to the ceiling and a draw back curtain for entry. I preferred to sit in 36K (not keen on the wall of dark blue)with other family members in 35J/K.
As the plane lands in HK in early morning and returns at a similar time, there can be good views of HK from window seats provided there isn't smog.

The plus is that the crew seats were rarely used on our trip so you don't get the hassle of the reclining seat in front (same for 34A of course).

For possible infants in 34D-G, noise cancelling headphones are a necessity.

35K is actually a normal seat located in the row of three directly behind the 'crew rest seats' 34H/J/K. As such they are not often reclined.

The tray table for this seat folds down from the back of the 34K; the PTV will be in the top of the 34K seat.

34A is as far forward as you can get on a window and still be in WHY seating.
