How do you get From East Coast to LAX or HNL for only 60000points?

Did a JASA last Dec HNL/xSYD/BNE for 60,000 pp plus USD755.39 booked 23 Oct 11 for travel 02 Dec 11. The initial availability column for Business will show the higher all inclusive points level of 121,251 pp (which is using all points zero cash) however when you select the flight & move to the next screen use the slider to scroll back to the minimum points required & it will show you the cash required.

Booked another JASA for May HNL/xSYD/DRW for 72,000 pp plus USD500.45 (all inclusive points 138,920 pp)

Looks like a decent seat is now gone for me - was in a skybed on a PE ticket on March 5 - SYD/DFW. They must have put a refurb on now and all PE seating again......
Interested in this case as if I hadn't looked I would not have had a seat allocated, there was no seat selected for both of us and only a few remain - hard to see how QF can go from giving you a skybed as a WP (I know without paying) to then back to no choice and the last pick of any seats - does this seem correct, or have I missed something?

Hi Qld4101,
Same thing happened to me, booked PE SYD/DFW and ended up in a skybed. Recently checked and now on new refurb plane. However i was able to grab a seat behind the bulkhead, they initailly had me in a standard isle seat. Seems as though we always need to keep an eye on these things.

No alone then - do they just make it free for all when they change a type and don't actually reseat anyone?
Does anyone know if there are any particularly good seats, or seats to try and avoid on the refurb aircraft?

Rows 1, 2 or 3 are the best seats on either configuration. Zone A beats upper every time.

Hmmm, now I don't know what to do. We are allocated seats 14AB (exit rows upper level), would you care to share why you prefer Rows 1,2,3 in Zone A over the upper level as there are currently seats in Rows 3 available and I don't know if I should swap or not.

Also looking at the seat map there is a 'big thing' just to the right of seat 3 and front of centre rows F & E, do you know what that is. Sorry don't know how to describe it other than 'big thing'

I also read on another post where you said that you would select either seats 3E or 3F in a hearbeat over any other seats within that zone. Any insight as to why they are your preferred seats in Zone A.

Just jumping on the back of this thread - I have an upcoming trip involving DFW-BNE on a refurbed plane in Y

Any experiences or comments on what the best seats are?

I've had a flick through some of the threads/guides but haven't found much in the way of recommendations on the new fit out. Currently I'm planted in 43A

Did you stay in 43A? How was it?
Possible to get out without disturbing others in the row?
