Hi all,

First timer here :)

I have booked SYD - DFW to fly 2nd March on QF - Y class and paid the additional $25 per seat to select (couple travelling)

Looks like most leg room seats are filled and only a few shows up , except for the mid seats in 66 (J and B) which costs $180, not side by side. Checked upper deck but only PE it seems there.

I have selected 75 J & K thinking window seat will have bit more space to lean on the wall during sleep. I copied below the screenshots of other available seating.

Given the hours in flight, Suggestions/reviews for seats are helpful & appreciated :D

Welcome to AFF boeing747 :)

Can't help you directly, sorry, but this thread might be worth a browse.

Also, others might tell you when 'better' seats open up for various status levels in QFF. Do you have any status?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks RooFlyer.

Am on the basic Bronze status. Doing a couple of trips in-between so may hit Silver by March. Don't think it will give me any boost though.

Will wait & see what fellow members might suggest

AS a Silver I can see seats in rows 54/55 which while not necessarily better than 75, are closer to the exit.

Worth checking back regularly in the final few days to see what might open up, as even a chance of an upstairs pair becoming available (forget row 36, as the three centre seats there are horrible) but at present 33J/K are not allocated. Would be a nice two-seater with side bins, way better than a three seater downstairs.

The seats in 75 are no better or worse than the other downstairs non-exit row seats. No side bins, but if you manage to keep the aisle seat free that will help.

Thanks OATEK, will keep checking. Would be lucky if i can get hold of the 33 J, K

There are Economy seats on the upper deck, but I don't believe they're open to Bronze just yet (try 80 hours before departure; I see 33J/K available at present, but the only other 2-together seats are in the middle).

Short of getting on the upper deck, they're all much of a muchness (as the good seats are already taken such as 80A and 71D). Personally i'd go for an aisle and middle in the 4 just so I wasn't climbing over a stranger to go for a walk/use the facilities, but it's personal preference.

This is the current seat allocation map, as seen for a Platinum.

We did the same flight about a month ago in row 74 A and C . My Daughter had D,E,F and G to herself :). The flight was only about 75 % full in economy and so we had plenty of room . It was the best long distance flight I have had in years and I think the seats you picked should be fine . The crew said that the flight was always full at the pointy end but not in economy relative to the LAX flight . Our side was near the end with the section of food so we did not get a choice but we got what we wanted anyway.
