Hi

Not sure why this is happening.

AA just changed some metals affecting my flights (from 737 to 767) so the previous seal selection is now gone (I was alerted by EF, otherwise I'd be in the dark still).

The current oddity is this.

I could apparently select new seat on QF MMB but when I log into EF (even 24 hrs later), my selection is not there.

AA.com would not help as it is issued by AMEX and also it is a QF-numbered flight (Yeah !).

Yes, I could log into AA using my Record Locator but there is no option for Seat Change for the QF flights (unlike the other AA-numbered flights where I could change seat myself)

QF stated the seat selection is "in the systems" and therefore is guilt-free.

Yes, some (not on AFF) would say "Who cares!".

But being on AFF, how do you tackle this issue ?

I hate going back to the AMEX TAs requesting this to be effected (long story) so I am looking for another solution, if possible.

Your thoughts ?

Many thanks

Seeing that you have tried doing it directly with AA, I don't think you have much option apart from going through your Amex TA.

Thank you

I thought so too !

Hello Red Roo

Would you have any (technical) idea why this happened ?

Did you ring up either AA or QF? That might be your solution.

You're going to be ringing someone, so I'd start with the booking agent (Amex) and go from there.

Actually, I did both - as per the OP (you might have missed that).

AA "... couldn't help you [as it was booked by AMEX] ...."

QF "... [your selection is] .... in the systems...."

AMEX TAs quite often fail to impress me with their knowledge and efforts so I try to avoid them if I could.

It seems I have no other choice really.

I'm not aware of this issue, however can only suggest you contact our Reservations team to review your booking. Hope this remains a one off. :)

Hey legroom,

Is your booking actually "ticketed" ?

I've made bookings in the past where I couldn't access my seat selection on aa.com (admittedly it was for an AA metal and numbered flight) but everything else looked normal. Found out that it was because the status of the ticket was not "ticketed". Contacted the airline and found out there was a small issue (which was dealt with instantly) and about 30 minutes later the status changed to ticketed and then I could access "Change Seats" on my itinerary.

It could be that things look good on the QF end but AA sees something mismatched?

I know this doesn't exactly match your problem but thought it might be of interest.

VEC

Ticketed 2nd May, 2013

Everything was sweet until AA changed its metals (737 -> 767) and also flight numbers affecting 3 segments.

I could re-do only one (AA-numbered) segment.

This QF-numbered segment I could do nothing about as both AA and QF washed their hands offloading it back to AMEX as the original ticketing agent {for different reasons, see above}.

I had contacted AMEX and still waiting for their usual (in)efficiency.

Cheers

It appears the AA systems is being upgraded and everything seems to have gone haywire with my bookings.

Even the QF shift supervisor could not sort it out, reassuring me that "time will tell" but guaranteed that I won't be left stranded.

The original QF codeshare is now flying a different route altogether and QF has no idea what the new codeshare is at this stage.

Computer glitches !

I should check my booking then.... I've got a LAX-SEA sector on AS and YYZ-LAX on AA over the next 2 months with very nice seats already selected!

Direct AMEX Corporate Travel quotation

"... QFxx_x is something of a mystery. Qantas gave me an AA flight number but is was for San Diego to Chicago....[not the original segment]...."

It may not affect you (as it did to me) but it does not hurt to reconfirm.

Just checked my flights and the QF codeshare number didn't change nor did my seats, so all's good.

Good on you

I knew about my "issue" from EF as I created a Seat Alert for my own seat.

When that disappeared, I got an alert / notification from EF.

Otherwise, none the wiser really.
