Seat selection on Eitihad metal, booked as Virgin codeshare

I booked +1 on EY Dub-Auh-Syd next year in J with VA points as a VA codeshare, flying Etihad metal. How do I go about selecting a seat for her? When I go to "manage my booking" on the Etihad website, it does not recognise the VA reservation number. If I ring Etihad, would they be able to help book a seat if I quote the VA reservation number or do I need to find out the Eithad reservation number from VA first? thanks

I went through the same thing about a year ago. Unless things have changed, you will need to get the Etihad booking reference from VA and then call Etihad Customer Services. When I called, they could allocate a standard seat but not an emergency exit row

This is still the process; I called Virgin to get Etihad booking reference, then called Etihad (24 hours: 1300 532 215) to allocate seats and also booked chauffeur transfers at the same time

For my recent booking for 2 MEL _ Nairobi in J via the phone they gave me both the va and et references and advised me to call et to make seat selection.

I called and it was easy.

I did not know about the free limo service when I called. But stumbling across it soon after I just booked it online which is easy with the booking reference once you get onto manage your booking.

I could not select seats there though. If you tried a message popped up saying to phone.
