A relative (no status) booked a return Y flight SYD-LAX with Virgin. During the booking, she tried to select seat for the return flight 3 months away, and most / all window and aisle seats were crossed out (not available) - available seats were middle seats :( Not sure if the window and aisle seats were blocked or occupied?
Question: When does Virgin release seats for better selection for international flights? For example, QF open the seat map at T-80 for domestic flights (not sure about international flights). Also know that Eva Air allows checkin 48 hours before departure when pax (with no status) can select some better seats. Does Virgin have this choice?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, serfty. The date is 13th January 2020 - VA2 from LAX to SYD.

Rows 27 through 32 and 44 through 48 are always blocked on 3rd party websites such as Expert Flyer:

But on VA's website - it shows a full load beyond row 36, except the front of economy - where those seats should open up at T-72:

Many thanks, clippped_wings, for your reply with the seat maps. Will definitely try to check in T-72 for a better seat. At the moment, my relative chose an aisle seat in the middle section in front of the toilets - else it was a middle seat. Hope she can change that at T-72.
